Getting in your own way

last night I had a dream where i went through so many ups and downs and scary moments ( horror movie stuff) and at the end of it all I was in a situation where I was in front of hundreds of thousands of people or millions if that, it was a big crowd, i had to perform, I had to deliver to the audience. In a way i had “made it”. But I remember feeling anxious, nervous, frightened. i woke up before it could end and I kept thinking about that feeling and asking why I hesitated and doubted myself.  i think in most cases in life we are afraid of success, of our own greatness, we think we want that thing and it’ll be “all good” when we get it/there. But when you do get there, there is always a hesitation and a moment where you feel that fight or flight response because of the unknown. Where you stop and start to doubt yourself. 

Similarly, in my dream i went through all those hardships and scary moments which, let me tell you, was way more scary than what i felt at the end, but for some reason none of the horror stuff even crossed my mind when I stood in front of the millions of people expecting greatness from me. I just froze out of fear and doubt. I didn't even think about all the hardships and scary moments of my past rather i thought about the future.... how dumb is that. i had forgotten everything I overcame and learned to get there and it all went out the window.

The takeaway, we get in our own way. I feel that to my bone, we expect people to believe in us before we believe in ourselves which is a false sense of confidence. What happens when the people who believe in you is no longer around? We need to believe in ourselves. I mean the best thing you can do for someone else is see the greatness in them before they see it in themselves, but thats hard to find, so honestly you need to see greatness in yourself before anyone can see it. think of it as a light, you can't expect someone to light your candle in the dark, you have to light that candle yourself and then people will see it too. 

I take it as a sign or message that I need to believe in myself, to never doubt myself, to be reassured that I’m on the right path. That when the time comes to take action I will be able to move forward and grab the opportunities that are in front of me. I hope that for anyone else out there who doubt yourself, remember the hardships you had to overcome and think about the best life you could have, make the choice to take the chance to change your life. Don't worry about the failure because I mean if youre starting at the bottom, you got no where else to go but up right? P.s. song recommendation : Zedd- Lost at sea
