Review of Jayjun’s Rose Blossom Mask

JAYJUN is a Korean brand that was created in 2014, their goal is to help people obtain brighter, healthier and more beautiful skin. Their Rose Blossom Mask is designed to nourish and moisturize tired skin from external environments. Key ingredients include: 1% rose water (anti-inflammatory, soothing, anti-redness, antioxidant, antibacterial, moisturizing, refreshing), sodium hyaluronate (anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, hydrating, moisturizing, healing) and allantoin (softening, soothing, protecting, stimulates new cell growth). This product retails for between $1-3 USD, you can get it here for $4.35 + free shipping.

Ingredients

Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water (1%), Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan, Betaine, Allantoin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polysorbate 20, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

This mask contains 25 ml (0.84 oz) and has a lovely, light rose scent.

The mask is very soft and has a slightly rosy color due to the essence. The eyes, nose and mouth holes fit well and it adheres well and stays on your face until you want to remove it.

Recommended use is after cleansing, take the mask sheet out and apply it evenly across your face. Peel mask from face after 10 to 20 minutes and gently pat the leftover essence onto your face. After using, I think it's important to note that this mask has a pretty noticeable rose fragrance. I think, however, that it's pretty gentle and might be suitable to sensitive skin types. The essence in this mask is very plentiful and soothing on the skin. The mask itself is comfortable to wear and it easily helps the essence to soak into your skin. After removing this mask, my skin felt very soft and smooth and it helped to brighten and hydrate my skin. It was really soothing and pleasant to use. However, if you don't like fragrance, it's best to avoid this mask. I would recommend this to people who need something hydrating and brightening.

What I like: I love how soft and soothing this mask is as well as the rose fragrance. I can't get enough of rose scents, to be honest. The ingredients are nice and there aren't any irritants. It's got a nice and short ingredient list. It's very hydrating and brightening as well. What I don't like: the fragrance is possibly problematic.

Day 3 of the #antihoardmaskchallenge hosted by @the_hazel_dragon , best gift ever. Featured are 2 sheet masks, one I got from @colebiancardi (giveaway) and the other one from @thebeautyofapineapple and I still have the note she put on it. Today I will use the JayJun baby pure shinning mask. I haven’t used this one because is the first JayJun product I’ve gotten and I don’t want to rip open the packaging, but I have to. Is a 3 step mask which contains an essence, sheet mask and a hydro eye cream. The essence has a faint floral scent, watery but so hydrating. After a few minutes of dry time, I put the mask on. Is packed with thick liquid that dries matte but moisturizes the skin. I was very surprised that it was very easy to unfold, even though the fit in some places was too big for me. The mask has ceramides, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, collagen, allantoin, mistletoe fermented extract & soybean fermented extract. Eye cream has a small floral scent, creamy & great for hydrating the delicate eye area. Pre-Black Friday Special: Sheet Mask Compilation!

Uh oh, Black Friday is next week! So many things will be on special, what should you buy? To help you out I’ve spent two months trying all sorts of Korean face masks (because those are usually on sale during seasonal promotions)! All the face masks reviewed here are less than $2USD for each sheet, and when on sale should be comfortably affordable.

First up I got the famous JayJun! I used both for around 20 minutes, before peeling off the sheet and letting the essence dry for an hour, then rinsing off the residue with cold water (please don’t use hot water, that defeats the purpose of masks). Most of Jayjun’s masks come in 3 steps, and what is included with the mask gives a good indication of what the mask is supposed to do. 

The orange one is the OG/classic version. It comes with step 1 cleansing foam and step 2 activating serum to be used before the mask. The colour of the mask is black, and the serum is a thick watery texture. The sheet is medium-thick but fits to my face quite well. I like this mask quite a lot, but the smell is a little weird...something like wet socks? I don’t know, it’s a little unpleasant, but for the great effects it has on skin, it’s worth it.

The pink one comes with step 1 activating essence before the mask and step 3 eye cream after the mask. It is advertised as an anti-aging and tightening mask, designed to restore skin elasticity and moisture. I give this mask a BIG thumbs up! I’m only in my early 20′s and don’t really care for aging skin products, but this mask really does restore the skin barrier and makes your face smooth afterwards. It smells nice, like generic face creams. The essence is a little thicker than the orange one, and takes a little longer to dry.

Next up I got the less expensive but well-loved Skin Clinic and It’s Real Squeeze masks from Innisfree. I got both types during Innisfree’s Buy 10 Get 10 Free promotion period, but I must say that I was quite disappointed by the Skin Clinic masks, because BHA, Peptide and Vitamin C all stung my face like hell! It hurt so bad I had to peel and wash them off after only 5 minutes of use. The madecassoside stood out among the lot, because it was the only one that didn’t hurt. The sheet is super thin and fits well, and the essence is watery (it drips if I’m not careful). For those who like overnight masks this is one that can be left on overnight and you don’t have to wash off after use, because it sinks into you skin and dries within half an hour of use. I also used Dr Jart+ (no photo sorry) and this madecassoside is like the cheaper version of Dr Jart+ with watery essence and thin sheet mask.

It’s Real Squeeze masks would be a good staple to have in storage and just as a moisture-boosting option when you need to prep your face before make up. I tried Lime, Bamboo, Green Tea, Cucumber, Acai Berry and Honey. Among them the Lime stood out to me because I have oily-combo skin, and it helped control oil as well as provide some freshness and cleanliness. I like the smell too, as it reminds me of lemon candy.

The real MVP for me was actually this recent rising star: A by Bom. I liked this so much I bought 2 more boxes to put in storage! It doesn’t have a super thin sheet material or essence that absorbs into the skin fast, but it is the one that made my skin GLOW the next day. It comes in 2 steps, 1 being a pack of 4 small leaf patches with activating essence, 2 being the sheet mask (note that there are some fake products online, so make sure the sheet mask has a shape net included for support - that is an indication of legitimacy). The essence is similar to a thick aloe gel. The sheet mask pack comes with SO MUCH ESSENCE what I do is use the sheet mask on one day, and leave the essence in the bag to use with step 1 leaf pack on another day. Apart from moisturising, this mask also tightens pores, controls oil, heals acne, and has cooling agents for general soothing effects! I can’t praise this enough, good job A by Bom!

Last...and kind of least, Papa Recipe’s Bombee Honey Masks made it onto my list too! I don’t actually like this mask too much despite having heard so much praise for it. It’s nothing amazing, and kind of compares to Innisfree’s Real Squeeze masks except it smells nicer and is more pricey. There are different colours but I used the classic yellow honey and clarifying black honey. Both smell super super good like real honey-flavoured cake and makes me want to eat the mask.

In the midst of a busy work-from-home Friday, I was feeling the need for some midday rose multimasking. I recently picked up some new rose products from Memebox (final hurrah haul rundown coming soon), so I wanted to work on using some of these old faves up before busting out the new ones. After a quick cleanse with the Velieve cleanser, I did the Origins Original Skin mask (deep cleaning & exfoliating), then the Daltokki Rose Gel Mask (refreshing & soothing), the Secret Key Rose toner, and finished up with this new Jayjun Rose sheet mask, which had tons of gel-like essence that wasn't super heavy or greasy and absorbed really nicely. I followed up with my favorite rose-flavored faves: Aromatica serum and eye cream, and Korres 24-hr brightening rose moisturizer. It was middle of the day and I wasn't going anywhere until later, so I didn't worry about SPF. Which I know is probably not ideal since I get wrinkles and sun damage just by being awake since UV rays can permeate basically everything. Still, my face was fresh and bright for the evening and I didn't have to worry about any additional nighttime regimen—multitasking AND time saving, y'all!
