"Daddy why do you hit mommy?"
"I only hit her when she’s bad, Kiddo… Just like I hit you when you’ve been bad. Mommy’s got a lot to learn and sometimes she makes mistakes, and people get punished for those mistakes, okay?"
Cork's off, it's on the party's just begun I promise this drink is my last one. I know I fucked up again cuz I lost my only friend God forgive my sins.
Don't leave me I- Oh I'll hate myself until I die.
My heart would break without you Might not awake without you Been hurting low, from living so high for so long.
I'm sorry and I love you Sing with me "Bell Bottom Blue" I'll keep on searching for an answer cuz I need you more than dope.
I need you more than dope. I need you more than dope. I need you more than dope. I need you more than dope.
Toast one last puff And two last regrets three spirits and twelve lonely steps Up heaven's stairway to gold Mine myself like coal A mountain of a soul Each day I cry, I feel so low from livin' high
I need you more need you more I need you more than dope.

Baths.
They were supposed to be relaxing, but Jay never really cared to sit in a steaming pool of water, shedding skin and hair and whatever else listening to the silence between the soft laps of water against the porcelain. Of course, he had a major wound on his leg and his general’s orders were clear; bathe.
He heard the door open and he immediately covered himself with the washcloth in the tub. Astrid shed her robe and joined him, surprising him to the point where he just stared at her for a minute or so in shock. “Hi…” He breathed, shifting his legs to make room for her, feeling odd about being nude around her.
Jay grabbed her shoulders gently and leaned her back into him, inhaling the perfume of her skin and sighing.
Maybe baths weren’t so bad after all.
Livin' my life on a show hill. Different girl every night at the hotel. I ain't seen the sun shine in three damn days. Been fuelin' up on cocaine and whiskey. Wish I had a good girl to miss me. Lord, I wonder if I'll ever change my ways. I put your picture away, sat down and cried today. I can't look at you when I'm lyin' next to her.
I caught you last night in the hotel. Everyone knows but they won't tell. But their half-hearted smiles tell me something just ain't right. I been waitin' on you for a long time Fuelin' up on heartaches and cheap whine. I ain't heard from you in three damn nights.
I put your picture away. I wonder where you been. I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him.
I saw you yesterday with an old friend...
It was the same old same "How have you been?"
Since you been gone my world's been dark and grey. You reminded me of brighter days.
I hoped you were comin' home to stay. I was headed to church.
I was off to drink you away.
I thought about you for a long time. Can't seem to get you off my mind. I can't understand why we're living life this way. I found your picture today. I swear I'll change my ways. I just called to say I want you... to come back home....
I found your picture today. I swear I'll change my ways. I just called to say I want you... to come back home... I just called to say I love you...
Come back home...
You are the piece of me I wish I didn't need. Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why. If our love is tragedy why are you my remedy? If our love's insanity why are you my clarity?
I imagine Adel still being a punk-ass brother in this verse and playing this song when Astrid comes to visit the underground.
First Impressions // Jaystrid // Know Your Place Verse
Jay's fingers tapped nervously on the side of the bowl that held his oatmeal. The question had been on his mind for a long time. The companions he'd made in school had chosen their spouses years ago and some were preparing to try and get pregnant. For some reason, though, Jay was still a bachelor. His father had told him he would be given a mate in time, and he was too nervous to pester him about it. It wasn't that he craved a spouse or anything, but he was never given a reason why he hadn't been able to choose when his classmates had. He was always questioned about it, but he never had an answer. Today he decided he'd ask his father about it as he read the paper, but he was struggling to gather up the courage.
"Judas spray-painted the capitol building." The man across the table from Jay murmured. His father was tall, handsome, and looked very much like an older version of Jay. He was smart and successful, a government official who spent a lot of time in the Capitol. Jay himself lived in the Upper Class area and went to school with other children of important military members and government officials.
"Hmm..." Jay replied, not listening as he stirred the meal in front of him without eating.
"Two families were killed by wild animals just inside the wall, too..."
"Is something wrong with me?" Jay finally spoke up suddenly.
"No, why would you ask that?"
"Because I haven't been given a chance to choose a spouse yet..." One of Jay's companions had suggested that Jay might be disposed of, but he didn't know why or why they had waited.
His father smiled and laughed a bit. "Ah yes, I was actually going to speak to you about that."
Jay perked up and listened.
"There's nothing wrong with you, Jay. You're something special..."
Jay looked confused. "I am?"
"Yes... genetically you're somewhat incredible. It didn't happen randomly but..." He chuckled. "It's alright, I didn't meet your mother until I was your age either, maybe even older." He mused. "Anyhow, we didn't want to risk you... um... tainting our gene pool by picking someone who was less than perfect, so the DRR has been looking for the right mate for you."
Jay nodded, he was familiar with the Department of Reproduction of the Republic.
"So..." His father grinned broadly, "We've finally found her."
Jay was taken aback, it was so sudden and he was unprepared.
"Get dressed." His father urged, "You're going to meet her today. I think you will like her."
