I just want to talk about their body language for a moment. Because I saw someone say Barcode looked distant at the event. This here? Is maximum familiarity.
Barcode is very at ease with Jeff's touches. There's no apprehension, he allows himself to be pulled closer, to have Jeff's arm slung over his shoulder and to have Jeff's other hand in front of him. Like this, Jeff's arms almost surround him. And Barcode's hands are busy, he's holding the cake so he's in a vulnerable position. With his hands occupied if anything gets too much, if Jeff gets too close, Barcode can't use his hands to put up a barrier. But he doesn't look uncomfortable in the slightest. This speaks about the trust and bond between them.
Something people might not notice, but we subconsciously put up a barrier when someone we're uncomfortable with invades our personal space. We step back, or we put our hands up, we express in our body language that we're uneasy. So this isn't a position you'd be comfortable in unless you trust that person a lot. Barcode clearly does.
And Jeff "I like my personal space" Satur is all over Barcode like it's the most normal and natural thing. He has said many times that he likes his personal space and even when it comes to physical contact he likes skinship, but he prefers to be the one to initiate it. He doesn't like when his personal bubble is invaded. But that's clearly not the case when it comes to Barcode. Because when it comes to Barcode he likes getting hugged even if it's sudden, and there's no hesitation in getting close. Personal space what personal space? Clearly Jeff has double standards.
I also want to compare Jeff with his brother Jesse (when Jesse and their mum went to visit Jeff at his birthday event) versus Jeff with Barcode.
In the first picture Jeff is blowing the candles and in the second with Barcode he's about to do it. Do you notice the difference? The cake is between Jeff and Jesse as Jeff blows the candles. On the other hand he's touching Barcode, his hand is on Barcode's shoulder. He doesn't even let go of Barcode while he blows them.
Then we have this. While Jesse is saying happy birthday to him Jeff looks very happy and fond. He keeps smiling and laughing. But there's plenty of space between them. But while Barcode is giving him his happy birthday wishes Jeff holds the mic for him and has his arm slung over his shoulder.
This all speaks to how comfortable Jeff and Barcode are with each other. This event only proved that they won't let something like Jeff leaving BOC break their bond. They have said that they will support each other, now and in the future, and have said many times that they are each other's safe zone. And I'm very happy they found each other. Because in this industry having a safe zone is a very rare and precious thing.
An analysis on why Jeff's songs "Loop" and "Hide" are written for / inspired by Barcode.
[Warning: This post will look at the JeffBarcode dynamics in a romantic way. If you aren't okay with that please don't read or engage. Thank you]
I think Loop and Hide (thai + eng version) are all about Barcode.
It's just my theory but let me explain.
Loop and Hide are similar. Loop is about loving someone but not having the courage to tell them yet. It's about wanting to confess.
There's a lyric in Loop that goes "how many years do I have to wait till I can call you baby, baby?" I think this is about Barcode being young and so Jeff was holding back, waiting to confess.
Hide (original version) is also about wanting to confess. "I want to let you know how I feel so you can look this way". I think Loop’s vibe is hopeful, while Hide’s vibe is a bit depressed. "The more I dare the less you care" Jeff already released Loop by this time. And he shared the livestream with Barcode and directly taught the lyrics to him.
It's like an indirect confession to me. But Barcode seems to not have given the response Jeff wanted. Maybe Barcode didn't realize it was for him, or maybe he was just scared to assume it so he acted aloof and unaffected. Perhaps that’s why the Thai Hide version is a bit more depressed. It could be that Jeff tried to hint at his feelings and Barcode pretended not to understand.
An addition about Loop (because a person contacted me and said they thought Jeff wrote LOOP to encourage Barcode to confess to him. I thought it would make sense as well.)
Jeff has said a few times he would confess if he fell in love with someone. Barcode on the other hand is too shy to confess. At the age of 17 it's too scary to do, the thought of rejection, the thought that the one you like is too high up for you, especially in Barcode's case.
When the live started Jeff asked Barcode if he could sing LOOP yet. And when Barcode did Jeff was very happy. He said "should I change the singer to Barcode" which might indicate the feelings in the song are Barcode's feelings and so Barcode is the perfect singer for it. And then he suggested Barcode should sing a cover.
It could have been Jeff's way to encourage Barcode to confess to him, and to subtly hint that it's okay, the feelings are reciprocated, he feels the same way.
Something I overlooked was the comment Jeff wrote under his LOOP song. The google translation isn't perfect, but บอกวันนี้เถอะ….พรุ่งนี้นานไป pretty much means "confess to me today, because tomorrow is too far away".
It would also make sense why Jeff would prefer if Barcode confessed. Due to the age difference and Jeff being a total green flag I don't think he'd want to confess first. Even though he knows there are feelings between them, he can see Barcode is crushing on him just as badly.
It could also explain the differences between LOOP and HIDE. While both the protagonist in LOOP and the one in HIDE want to confess the one in HIDE is okay being just a shadow as long as his loved one is happy. This is obviously Jeff. And if it's true then LOOP (aka today is yesterday's tomorrow) represents Barcode while HIDE (aka just a shadow) represents Jeff.
And going onto HIDE next.
"I let you be anything" the lyrics in the original Hide say, and this is very much how their interactions went for a while. Jeff would do anything for Barcode, he was always complimenting him, saying he would always forgive him, was always patient, and would give him whatever Barcode wanted, etc. In the original Hide version, the lyrics say Jeff doesn’t mind being a shadow as long as the person is happy. It’s his happiness that matters to Jeff.
"I want to share your quotes like it's something I say" you mean like mimicking Barcode's speech and saying 'ngaaaab'?
"I try to do things that you do" you mean like this?
There's a lot that can be said how the lyrics relate to Barcode. The most interesting thing for me though is the shift in the vibe from the Thai version to the English version.
“I hope you hear this, hear what I’m saying” This lyric is in the Thai version but it isn’t in the English version!! Why is this important? Because now Barcode has heard and knows. So, there’s no need for that lyric in the English version.
Lyric wise a lot of the things stay the same in both Hide versions, but something has changed. Yes, he talks about wanting to confess and his hope running dry in the English version too. Because that was in the original and he can’t change it without it being a whole different song. However, now there are lyrics that say “I want to try to win you” which is hopeful, unlike the original version. And here he talks about being happy when they’re together. “when I’m with you I’m feeling so right, you’re the only one who gets me so high; know I’m never ever leaving your side. Now I won’t hide.”
English version goes from “You don’t even look me back in my eyes, all my love I’m giving, yeah, you won’t buy, SO I HIDE” which is consistent with the Thai version to “I’m never ever leaving your side. Now I WON’T HIDE” which is a new addition and not like the Thai version. He was okay being just a shadow in the Thai version, but in the English he's saying he won't hide.
The shift in emotion makes me think a confession has already taken place by that point. That's why “I hope you hear this, hear what I’m saying” isn't in the English version, a confession has been made. From a heartbroken song it turned more into a love song. From wanting to confess it went to staying by your side forever.
“All the words that I wrote you” also makes me think Loop was inspired by Barcode. This isn’t the first song Jeff creates thinking of him - Loop, Why don’t you stay english version, the original Hide version (and the cover of angel baby) they were all for Barcode so when Jeff says ‘all the words that I wrote you’ he means all of them. Interestingly, all of these song have the pet name ‘baby’ in them, as well.
Since Loop Jeff has hardly written a song without the word 'baby' in it. Almost every song after Loop has 'baby' in it, even OST songs not related to Jeff.
Loop: "how many years do I have to wait till I can call you baby, baby?"
Hide - Cause baby, it's baby, it's you.
Why don't you stay Eng Version - Let me stay right here, woo oh, so baby, I just wanna stay here.
Look (ost. My Secret Love) - Baby oh, I don't know what you're doing now.
Warm the heart (Ost. The Tuxedo) - "Oh baby, it's you. You. You. You. So baby just hold me close."
Angel Baby (cover) - Angel baby angel, you're my angel baby.
Closer - But, baby, I'll drive to you. ; Come a little closer, baby. There's no one around, only you and me. ; So, baby, please dance with me.
Jeff never used to have this baby agenda in the past and now he won't stop. So what changed? Hmmm...
If you're wondering why I also consider the cover of "Angel Baby" for Barcode please look at Jeff's Instagram post on the 05.08.2022. On the day after Barcode's birthday (he didn't have a schedule that day) Jeff posted a video of himself getting ready to go out. And he was flaunting his new phone case. Take a closer look at it.
He bought a phone case of a baby angel. With many Barcodes on it. I really don't need to explain more.
And another piece of evidence that Hide was for Barcode is the description on the MV video. It's no secret that Barcode and Jeff refer to each other as a safe zone. So what's up with the description then? It can only be for one person - for Barcode.
Even putting the Safe Zone comment aside the description on his Hide video literally says that sometimes just looking at that person is enough. Which is something he has said about Barcode in a few interviews.
It should be noted both the original Hide and the English version have that same description. Therefore, it's not weird to assume the song is indeed about Barcode. Or at least it was inspired by him.
Another thing, Jeff did a live performance of LOOP (on Apr 23 2022) and I noticed that the set up of the stage was very familiar. A couch, a blanket. Him lying on the couch and looking at his hand. Does it remind you of anything?
That's right. Kim patted Chay's head and looked at his hand afterwards. Jeff was also looking at that same hand, while lying on a couch. Originally I thought he might just be giving a sneaky spoiler for the drama. However, the lyrics have nothing to do with Kimchay at all. If anything, the patting on the head is a Jeff thing more than a Kim thing. So if he wasn't thinking about Kimchay... was he thinking about Barcode?
And I'm pretty sure the head pat when they were outside eating noodles was improvised by Jeff.
We know that Jeff uses his real life as inspiration for his songs. So it wouldn't be unrealistic to think that these songs are interconnected. And that one particular person is his muse.
If you've reached this far thank you for reading.
And remember this is all for fun and not meant to harm the actors in any way. Whether you believe it or not please don't ship them to their face, aka don't tag them in shippy stuff and let them have their privacy.
