Sunrise

Lately the music has flowed freely

Words written as if force fed

And it feels good

This feeling of refreshment

Something I had forgotten about

Carelessly focusing on passions

Of the heart, mind, and soul

Letting myself drown in the helplessness

The fog that weighs you down

And pulls you off your set path

Thinking of this journey I smile

I can look fondly back at what I’ve passed

Knowing it was all worth it

Pain, hurt, anger, happiness, bliss

All leading me to this point

I let forces and stressors confine me

Without flaws, I am not

But they are what make me, me

Like musical chords

The vital pieces of my personal sonata

So let me pass on some advice

Find a way to get yourself here

To this point where you can just breathe

Live for the moment

For yourself, and only you

Focus on that ideal

They say the person you must please first

The one you cannot live without

Is yourself

So remember that

Always

Will be distant memories

And that its all just part of a larger scheme

For the universe to finally smile down on you

We all have our ups and downs

On this roller coaster of life

It may be unfair to feel so tired of the lows

Constantly spent from lifting everyone up

All while suffering in silence, alone

Let out your thoughts and feelings

Allow the words to move from pen to paper

Heal by casting it all out

Shedding those burdens on your shoulders

And taking the power back

People will disappoint us

Letting us down after relying on their warmth

Remember theres more fish in the sea

The wait may be long, or short

But the light will rise and shine on you once again

Vanished

In that moment

When your eyes were solely fixed on me

They reached out and grabbed my soul

Caressing it in warmth

In that moment

After the sweetness of the kiss

You looked at me with an awe

And I was lost in that scene

In that moment

Laying there holding you

You gave me the world

Gave me meaning again, a purpose

In that moment

I was yours

You were mine

Lost in complete bliss

In that moment

I discovered what I truly wanted

Giving me a thirst for more

Insatiable

I wish to go back

To live it again

To recapture your attention

But now

Panicked

Hopelessly powerless

The direction is not my own

Captained by the cards dealt

I insult myself

To those for whom I care for most

Unable to provide necessary comforts

Attention or love

Because I’m shackled by life

This cruel Mistress has had her way

Time and time again

Dominating my mind, body, and soul

Til the abuse and embarrassment takes hold

Brain washed I sit

Strapped to the electric chair

But ridden like a jockey on a stallion

She rips through the layers

Only to find the illusion of my lies

Falling like dominoes on the floor

Another mess to clean up…

Reverse Midas

I turn to sand

Everything gold in my hands

Only for it to drip

Right through my hands

When will this curse end

Or is it a blessing in disguise?

Burnt Out

They say burning the candle both ends is rough

Try burning it in several places at once

Almost making the candle into on giant flame

So many wicks extend from this candle of mine

All flames of importance

Of relevance to my life

But theres only so much wax I have

And its slowly melting under the flames

One by one I must extinguish them

Some of greater zeal to me

And it burns every time I put one out

But I must focus the flames

To keep my light burning

Before the wax melts down

And my light is nothing

Words have been flowing

Daily

By the hour

Endless thoughts and feels

Never-ending

My library of works

Building gradually

But these passions of word

Must never see the light of day

Instead being stored

In my own personal library

Of do’s and don’ts

All Bets On Black

They say anything worth having

Is worth fighting for

Taking chances

For many years I disagreed

The cynic in me taking over

Thinking that maybe wasting time

Losing sleep and fretting

Over things you can’t control

Wasn’t worth it

But my eyes are opening

Realizing that the time lost

Or lost sleep and worrying

Have value even in the end

Value that I didn’t allow myself to see

To appreciate

So now I will live on chance

And worry if my bet

And my luck

Will back me up
