Not me getting really sappy and emotional from this... Thank you, sweetheart. You mean the world to me and I miss you a lot and love you bunches.
“That sounds like a plan, sir. I’ll make sure to sweeten the deal with some cookies or a pastry, for all that trouble. I’m just not used to someone taking care of me, that’s all. Strong independent woman and all that jazz,” she grins and shrugs. “It’s nice, though. I could get used to it.”
He pulls her so her back is against his chest, his legs sprawled on either side of her. He kisses the top of her head. "You are sweet enough. I have no doubts about your strength, Ace." He wraps his arms around her, holding her tight. "And I am not going anywhere, so get used to it."
He smiles as she cleans his face. He could get used to this too. Someone to give a damn about. Someone to make settling down worthwhile. He glances around the apartment, wondering if it might be time to find something more permanent, and in a better part of town. Perhaps closer to Anne's work.
“I like you, too. Of course I’ll have you, James. You made me cookies and fucked me into the mattress better than anyone ever has and loaned me this comfy sweater which smells like you.” She drapes her legs over his lap and grabs a cookie, taking a bite and swallowing before continuing on. “Dangerous job or neighborhood or whatever, I enjoy your company and I’m selfish, so I’m not going to give you up. I took self defense lessons, I’m good.”
"I'm never getting that sweater back, am I?" he laughs grabbing a few cookies, handing one to Anne. "And if you want self-defense, I can certain teach you a few things they don't teach in those classes at the mall."
“I’m a few episodes behind. Enough to catch up so my booty feels less like sandpaper before traipsing across the city and for some tea and cuddles to warm me up.”
"Cuddles are my special skill." He squeezes her tight. -J.C.
Anne settles back against his chest happily, leaning her head on his shoulder and tangling their legs together. His warmth seeps through her shirt, relaxing any tension that might've existed in her muscles to hold her upright. Leaning on him was too relaxing to do anything but melt into his arms.
His compliment makes her blush and tilt her head into his neck. "Not going anywhere? I guess I'll just suffer through sprawling out like this with you. Oh, the horror," she giggles, her deadpan delivery failing as she laughs at her own nonsense.
She takes the offered cookie and bites into it. She'll definitely have to bring him cookies from work if he's going to go through all the trouble of escorting her around the city. "You'll get the sweater back, but I can't promise I won't snag it from your closet when I come over. I run cold and it looks good on me, anyway." She sticks her tongue out at him playfully.
"Is teaching self defense another of your special skills? Which I'd be into learning from you, by the way. But that is one of your special skills, along with coming up with makeshift restraints on the fly and kicking my ass at pool. What other skills do you have up your sleeve?" she asks with an easy smile, twisting her torso slightly to look up at him from her place on his shoulder.
He resists the urge to laugh at her cursing. Positively adorable. He is certain under all that sass and teasing, Anne, or has he prefers to call her Ace, is soft. All he needs to do is push the right buttons. One of which he apparently found as she molds against his torso. He sighs as well, pushing her back against the wall. His hands cup her face as he slips his tongue into her mouth as she sighs into him. He kisses her with the promise of something more. More than just a stolen kiss in a side street on the bad side of town. He pulls back and takes her hand , pulling her back onto the main drag.
“If you knew what was good for you, you would have kissed me back at the bar." he growls softly.
With a brisk pace, he pulls her along until they stop in front a dingy building. He grabs keys from his pocket and unlocks the front door, leading her up a pair of narrow stairs to a plain wooden door.
"Let's get you inside, Ace and more comfortable." he winks opening the door for her. The apartment is small with few personal touches. There is a bed just past a doorway. The door slams behind her as he spins her around, pushing her against the door. His hips push against hers. His lips catch her neck, his stubble scratching the skin.
"Now to collect my prize. My Ace of Hearts.” He rocks his hips against her, making his intentions clear. -J.C.
She melts into his kiss, tasting the alcohol on his tongue that isn't the only source of her head swimming. Small fingers wind into his copper hair to hold him to her for as long as possible. He's addictive and clearly knows what he's doing with how he kisses her within an inch of her life. She wants the more she feels in his hands cupping her face.
A whimper of protest escapes against her will when he breaks their embrace and tugs her back onto the dimly lit streets. His long legs eat up the distance and she has to take two steps for his every one, her heart pounding in her ears more for what she believed to come than the pace.
"Don't threaten me with a good time," she replies to his growl with a smirk, squeezing his hand.
There is little time to blush at his insinuation, to look about the apartment, before her shoulders meet the back of the door once again. "You're gonna rub holes in my shirt at my shoulder blades if you keep pushing me around," she teases just before she moans quietly at the brush of soft lips and burning stubble against her sensitive neck.
Her hips buck against him before she pushes his torso away from her with a slow smile. "Didn't you say something about your Ace getting more comfortable?" Her hands hook in the hem of her t-shirt and pull it over her head, tossing it to the side to reveal her black bra.
"I was prepared to take care of myself, if I needed to. I don’t want to be where I’m not wanted, you know?”
He reaches out to hold her face. "You are always wanted in my bed, Ace." He kisses the tip of her nose, the one part of her face he reaches first. "Now sleep."
He scoots further under the blankets and closer to her, especially after she touches his chest. "And as for the rest, I've made good on all my promises so far, what makes you think the pancakes will be any different." He smiles as he shuts his eyes.
He notices her thumb tapping against his chest and her soft voice. "I hate sleeping alone...I just didn’t want you to ask me to stay out of chivalry or something. That’s all." He wraps his arms around her and pulls her tight against his bare chest. "You're not alone now. And didn't anyone tell you, chivalry is dead." He kisses the top of her head. "Now sleep, or I will be cooking you lunch instead of breakfast. We can talk more in the morning." He enjoys the warmth of her near him, lulling him into a sense of calm. "Goodnight, Anne." -J.C.
She leans into his hands when he cups her fact before humming contentedly at his kiss on her nose. Relief that he meant his words, that it wasn't all just for show, relaxes her further. Her hands curl underneath her chin as she snuggles into his chest, draping her leg over his hip to hold them intimately together for the night.
"You're a mystery, Mr. James LastName. I'm going to have to stick around through that meal if only so I figure you out. Hope that doesn't mess up your disappearing thing."
Someone as handsome and surprisingly gentle and clever shouldn't need to pick up a hook-up in a dirty bar. Why hadn't any woman scooped him up yet?
A yawn fans out against his chest. She kisses the scruff covering his proud jaw before cuddling underneath his chin. "I don't know who told you you were the boss of me, but they're wrong," she teases. "Night night, James."
Another yawn and she falls asleep, melting into him without a care in the world.
(Who is to say I don't like a woman with attitude?)
He takes advantage of her leaning over the table to take in the view of her backside. Not bad, he thinks to himself. He smiles as she peers over her shoulder. "Drinks?" He walks up to the table, chalking up his cue. "If you are as good as you make yourself seem, the stakes should be higher." He steps towards her and stares at her with a smile until she steps out of the way. He leans over the table, sliding the cue along his fingers, taking his shot sending stripes and solids flying, landing one of each in a pocket. "Say winner's choice." He lines up his next shot, sinking another ball. "Unless you're scared?" He lines up the third shot, waiting for her response. -J.C.
(Thank you! 😁 It isn't a hostile attitude, but a teasing, challenging sass. There's a difference!)
What has she gotten herself into? Green eyes widen as she steps out of the way to watch him sink three balls in rapid succession. The power he holds in that stare excites her, sending her pulse racing in her throat. When he looks back at her she nods once and sets her freckled face into cool confidence, leaning lightly on her cue propped against the floor. "Winner's choice," she agrees, knowing she is inevitably doomed to whatever prize he deemed suitable. "You're on, James. As soon as I get my shot, you're done for." It's another bluff, but one she's happy to make because she refuses to back down and she can continue to make it while admiring the long lines of his back and shoulders through his shirt. "Unless I should be afraid of you?" She arches her brow in question with a smile.
