You know, I saw someone say recently that Andrew drugging Neil is always quick to be forgiven, in the context of ‘which aftg character is more evil than my fave,’ and that him drugging Neil is actually completely antithetical to what kind of person we discover Andrew to be later on. But I’ve noticed that what’s largely left out of the conversation is the why of Andrew’s action ‘considering his boundaries’—by and large to assess the potential danger Neil is to Kevin, to Aaron, liar that he is. When that piece, the reasoning behind Andrew’s drugging Neil, is highlighted, I wonder… is it antithetical to his character? I think it speaks a lot to his character, to what moral and personal codes he’s willing to breach if it means he can keep his charges safe. And I think that’s interesting!
Anyway, this thought does not come to me in defence of Andrew, and I’m not at all interested in participating in the broader conversation—just a personal reflection on how I treat his character.
