Hey on the topic of accents, I just moved to Dijon and while I speak french fluently I still have an American accent. People still understand me and I know I shouldn't be ashamed of it or anything, I'm not, but I was wondering if you had any tips to get rid of it? I kind of hate being singled out as an American mostly because then everyone assumes I can't speak French.
You could look at the actual phonetics - learn some IPA and where your mouth should be for each sound and pay really close attention to it. That’s helped me this year.
You could also try to find like a tandem/exchange partner (I imagine there’d be many willing participants haha) who could help you perfect your accent, speaking slowly and getting you to emulate them and correcting you and stuff (and then you’d do the same for them for English haha).
