i’m so excited to write these :3 (hopefully i’ll actually finish these fics tho)

thinking ab nat being a nail/finger biter, she tries to use black nail polish to cover her fingers and take away attention away from her awful nails/fingertips. when she gets into the wilderness she bites at her nails even more due to stress and also hunger. during the periods of intense hunger, like the first winter, she bites at the skin around her fingers until it’s puffy, bloody, and raw, it hurts to bend her fingers around the trigger of the gun, but at least it satiates part of her hunger throughout the day. she knows travis notices her habit, though it’s hard for the other to tell since everyone’s fingers are red due to the cold. it’s only when they eat jackie, commit cannibalism for the first time, that nat realizes she’s done this before, to herself. but she also realizes, as she chews on jackie’s fingers, that her nails are also bitten short, and she thinks back to this game, they were down 3-1, morale was low, it was halftime, and jackie sat, her legs spread wide across the grass, her fingers in her mouth, teeth biting nails, as she scrambled for any words to say, a way to bring the girls the motivation for a comeback. it was then when she first felt human to nat, of course that was quickly wiped away after seeing her in school that monday, buzzing around all the popular kids, looking perfect as always. it irked her, how jackie had it all, maybe that made nat resent her back in wiskayok, even in the wilderness, but now she was just jackie, someone like nat, who also bit at her fingers, a nervous habit developed in childhood that neither of them could break, that jackie would never have the chance to break, and one that nat probably would never break…

au where jackienat go on an ice skating date for fun except it unlocks this childhood talent of jackie’s for ice skating since her parents forced her to go to lessons even though she hated the cold, and she was a prodigy, but she faked sick from the cold enough to convince them to get her out and she forgot all about it, so her skills come out of nowhere for nat and herself. and nat just falls on her ass trying to keep up. (eventually she gets the hang of it, though only when she tries hockey skates)

i’ve seen people talk ab the lost art of ship names and how people have been just smushing characters names together and calling it a day (and i’ve been that take in regards to a lot of yj ships 😭), and while i don’t really care ab that, i always find it fun when ships have their own fun name besides their names together

so with that preamble out of the way, what do y’all think jackienat’s fun ship name would be ??

one idea i have is jealousaint (like my user lolll) bc 1. jealously is an interesting part of their dynamic and how jackie was jealous of nat for being able to be herself, express herself, and life authentically, and then the obvious “way to make us jealous one last time” from nat, insinuating she’s jealous of jackie’s death and that she doesn’t have to deal with the rest of the shitstorm that happens in the wilderness, but also that even before jackie had something that nat was jealous of. (personally, i think nat was jealous of jackie’s wealth, and how she was seemingly able to get through life with ease, before the wilderness) and then 2. the saint part because of well, nat’s whole journey in and out of the wilderness. and jackie because in a way she dies as a martyr, which can lead to sainthood. jackie was persecuted in a way by the others for sticking to her beliefs that the whole worshipping the wilderness was stupid, leading to her death, which is essentially what happens to a martyr, then after death they can be considered a saint.

but that’s just one of my ideas !! lmk ur thoughts and if u have any other ideas :)
