Hydroponics - Growing For the Future

So, in my earlier posts, I mentioned that I was growing my herbs and plants via a hydroponic system. Why did I decided to use this method of growing versus the traditional way? Well, it has a little to do with my Zodiac sign and what calls me (getting my Moana on!).

I was born in late June, which means my Sun House, the main House that was ruling when I was born, was in Cancer. I know, us Cancers get a bad rep for being emotional and sometimes difficult and yes, it's somewhat true. I do not know what the rest of the signs were doing on the day I was born because I don't know the exact time of my birth. Each letter of "OGV" is linked to a symbol related to Water Signs or Cancers specifically. I have the original Cancer symbol of what looks like pincers going vertically for the 'O', a Crescent Moon and the lotus flower as the 'G' and finally the Alchemist sign for water as an upside down triangle as the 'V' in Vegan. 

Anyway, back to hydroponics! I chose hydroponics because I am intrigued by water and how it shapes our lives. We are mostly made up of it therefore, we need it to survive. However, I am interested in how plants growing in it without the aid of earth, maintain themselves and if its more efficient to grow our plants this way. I believe hydroponics will be the way future humans grow crops period due to us poisoning the soil today. 

There are several different types of hydroponic growing methods. I am currently using just one called the Kratky Method. Below is a very well done YouTube video describing how it works done by one of my favorite hydroponic growers, Jeb Gardener. He's fun! Y'all should check him out! 

I will go into more detail once I've done more thorough research on all the methods seeing as I really only know the one. Well, I think that about wraps it up for me for today.
