Hi I would like to talk about my book please

Hello.

I’m writing a couple books, but the one I’ve spent the past five years on is called Jebedam (jeh-beh-dahm), and I love it with all of my heart and soul.

I started the book in 6th grade and wrote my entire first draft by hand. 389 pages of 2 composition notebooks. Since then, I have been typing up and reworking a lot of the story, and I hope to eventually get it traditionally published.

The basic premise of the story is that every year, a group of 17-year-old centaurs go on a quest (or several quests). This is a coming-of-age rite in their society. Jebedam follows the story of the sixteen Centauri questers and their struggles and encounters with many other fantastical beings.

Yes, you read correctly. Sixteen. This was the second book I have ever tried to write, and I decided to start the story with sixteen characters and just increase that number from there.

My profile picture is actually my original art of one of the 16 centaurs, Noligon (No-lee-gon). 

The centaurs are split into four clans: Foxien (fock-shen), Deerotan (deer-oh-tahn), Ceroqe (sair-oak), and Sembon (sem-bon). Out of the sixteen questers, there are four from each (generally speaking).

Here’s a basic introduction to the sixteen:

Foxien

Alecta: Snarky, wild redhead daughter of messengers with a taste for adventure and a love of speed.

Yendsby: Caring son of the Foxien chief who is trying his best to learn to lead.

Leafbon: Shy but skilled daughter of a healer and a blacksmith who really wants to help people and wears a burn scar on her face from when she was burned doing so.

Jemeno: They are a shaman whose goal is to help guide the group on their journey safely.

Deerotan

Noligon: Quiet son of farmers who uses his strength to help lift others up and protect them.

Imano: Ikari’s twin sister, a spearmaiden who uses her battle skills to protect her sister.

Ikari: Imano’s twin sister, a deaf girl with bow skills and a knack for healing.

Jeskai: Xir best friend was killed by the elves, xe uses xir past to help remind xir to protect xir friends and hold them close.

Ceroqe

Everon: Energetic intelligent wielder of axes and hammers, annoying to some but also shouldn’t be underestimated.

Conpine: Self-sacrificing cousin of the chief’s daughter, an albino centaur with a great love for his friends and family.

Mellon: A tough daughter of the woods, born and raised wild and free, with a special connection to nature and a lack of connection with Centauri culture.

Cleo: The happiest bard you’ll ever see, she’s always smiling and friendly and playing an instrument, her hair is amazing and so curly.

Sembon

Bandak: An intelligence-seeking centaur who learns much and speaks little, who knows more than you think she should or would but doesn’t share it unless he needs to. (genderfluid)

Garnol: A magical centaur, struck with an unexpected curse that completely changes the way she sees the world.

Modnad: A smith and woodworker, Kadmod’s boyfriend, and the person to go to if you’re struggling with your mental health.

Kadmod: An abused, broken son of a single, alcoholic father, trying to patch himself together with the help of his boyfriend and his hat-making skills.

And that’s the sixteen! This post is long, so I’ll end it here, but PLEASE talk to me about my OCs because I love my children and I like to talk about my writing a LOT.

This is from the point of view of my favorite villain in Jebedam, my book. Feel free to message me if you want to know more about her!

It all began when the world was starting to change.

I was one of the first, I have lived through the ages of change. I remember back before the days of elves and centaurs and even before the dwarves.

I was one of the few who did not aid in the creation of the dwarves. I was always more interested in humanity, because humans are so unique. They are weaker physically, but they are pure souls. I haven’t been that pure since I gave up my avian form.

I wished to join them. To be as the humans are, confined to one physical form. So I gave up my wings, put out my flame, and I now exist as a singular, unchanging being. I do not regret my choice.

I made this choice in the years just before the Changing of Ages. Before Jaderock was inhabited by the corrupt, before Opalore walled itself off from the rest of the world. Before humans started disappearing.

Once I found out that humans were being hunted and enslaved or killed, I made it my duty to protect them. I created this society, the Atkirites, and treated them as my children. I provided for them, I protected them, I trained them.

I have saved thousands of human lives.

The world became harsher, so we became harsher with it. We hold our land in an iron grip, we fight with a flaming fury. But we still wish to be able to live in peace.

I have watched generations of humans live and die. I watched the woods of their Creator, of our Creator, become overrun with elves and centaurs. Humans are no longer safe there.

Not until the centaurs and elves are gone.

That is why I must inflict this pain. Because so much pain has been inflicted on us first. We need to send a message, that we are not to be trifled with, that they need to leave our rightful lands. They have killed hundreds of us, we have a right to one pesky son of a Centauri chief and his friend. We’re not even trying to kill him, I swear the two of them are trying to get themselves killed.

It is a bit fun to watch…
