I am in love with your writing having just finished the passing of Peggy Gallagher. It makes me so happy to hear that you have begun writing again!! I’ll have you know that I am looking up dumb phones now as well. My heart broke reading about Noel’s childhood and I have never read anyone depict it as you have.

The world needs more dumb phones!! For the record, I ordered a Blackberry Q20, open box on eBay for 99 USD. It was made for use on my current network, so I will just swap over my sim card. It does have web browsing, so it's not quite a dumb phone, but no modern apps will work on it. It uses 4g lte so it should work for calls and text in most countries for 5+ years. I think that if you want to go a little further and eliminate web browsing from your life almost entirely, the secret is don't ever log into anything in the web browser on your new device. Or just use a flip phone! In the US you can get them at discount stores for about $50 with a year of service included, or get an unlocked one from Amazon etc and get a sim card from a discount network like Boost, Cricket or whatever. They work great, stay charged forever, and are practically indestructible.

But yes, thank you for the kind words on the writing. I'm excited!! And also, yes, in Peggyverse, Tommy is a sexual abuser. I don't know that this is true in real life, but I think it's a pretty good explanation for the way the whole family has turned out. Real life Tommy reminds me a lot of my grandfather, who was a truly terrible human being, so I modeled the character on him.

Hello jeevey, I'm sorry to bother you! I was wondering if you would finish the Broken Arrow River, I'm not pushing you to update it so please don't feel any pressure, I just really love it so I'm curious to see how it ends, I've probably read your completed chapters over and over again five or six times and have often imagined how it'll end up. I'm not very good at English so I hope my comments won't confuse you! Thank you for writing this excellent work,！

Don't you think it's kinda weird how as soon as Noel splits up with Sara he wants to reform Oasis and make up with Liam? I wonder if that contributed toward Noel getting divorced

I think this is exactly what I believed was happening all the way back in March of 2020. Check out my story with Savageandwise, written out that time. It was my sincere guess about what was probably going on

I want to talk about how breakups work. I get the feeling that many of my readers have never been in a long term, in-person, married-type relationship, and thus have never had a divorce-type breakup. It's not like you'd think.

Sometimes one partner leaves the house, you never go back, and you never sleep together or even really talk ever again. This what I did in my 18 year marriage. But he had significant addiction and mental illness and was highly combative; this is actually pretty unusual.

It's much more normal for breaking up to be a very long process. Often couples still love each other and even have good sex lives, it's just that the relationship isn't working for some reason. Even if you were sexually cold beforehand, the heightened emotions of the breakup itself lend themselves to an intense renewed sexual connection.

Its common for divorcing couples to still behave like a couple for a long time. They ask each other for help when the car breaks down or they have a medical need, they call each other when they need to process something, they go to each other for comfort, including sex, when things are tough. Not only are you used to relying on this person for a hundred concrete partnery things, in many cases you still love them a lot.

This is what I did with a long term boyfriend, it's what my sister did with a 5 year live-in relationship, it's what my best friend did with an 18 year marriage. You're ending the relationship because it's what you need, but it's hard. You still love them, you still miss them. You share friends and social connections, you might be close to each other's families. You have assets like a house or business that need to be maintained; in many cases you share kids. The opportunities to end up standing in the kitchen late at night, staring at each other and thinking about going upstairs, are basically endless.

It's common for divorcing couples to sleep together for a long time, even after there is someone new. In these cases they almost never feel like it's cheating.

My best friend divorced her husband who she loved very much because he was a relentless cheater. They slept together for years afterwards, even when she had boyfriends and he had a live in girlfriend and was cheating on that woman with other people. Her attitude was basically, "I was with him since he was nineteen, he is the father of my kid. I was here first." She eventually ended that because it was too hard on her heart, but she still breaks down whenever she sees him with another woman, more than 6 years after they split.

The point here is that it's more complicated than you think. People are messy, and they tend to love each other even in the direst circumstances. Last year I had a taxi driver in his 60s who told me all about his city, then his family. He's now friends with his ex wife after more than a decade of fighting, with the kids in their 20s. "We even slept together a few weeks ago," he said thoughtfully. "After a while that stuff that you thought was so important, it's not that important."
