I spoiled myself seeing the Jerza kiss in the manga.
But it was really worth it. I have supported Jerza ever since Jellal touched Erza's face in that one chapter so it was great to know that they eventually became canon.
I'm looking forward to reading the moments leading up to that one. I have only recently got into Fairy Tail and started reading the manga, you see. That's why for the most part, I don't read the latest chapters.
But the Jerza kiss was an exception. I'm glad I gave into temption and curiosity that time. It's become one of my OTPs for the series. I'm pleased they are official and am hoping they will get together, be that through dating, living together or marrying. If they don't, that's fine too. Because they are canon, I can live with it and wouldn't mind.
The kiss was animated very well and the music gave it a lovely atmosphere. The voice-acting of course was just as good as ever. It was an emotional and heartwarming scene.
However, I'm disappointed the anime team did not actually make them kiss. They showed Jellal pulling back at the last second. That was not what happened in the manga. They kissed in the chapter and then he broke away, holding her at an arm's length and lying about having a fiancee.
Just like the manga, later in the episode, he said to his comrades that he could not love someone who walked in the light and could only hope for her eternal happiness.
I wish they had animated the kissing scene properly like they did everything else in the episode. The manga moment is better by a mile because of that.
Anyway, the moment Jerza became canon gave me hope that they would one day get married because Jellal's words implied Erza was his reason for living and that he would one day make her his fiancee. Even after seven years, he still loves her and vice versa. Those feelings will not be going anywhere anytime soon.
