Update on my horned melons. I counted at least ten in total, but there might be more hidden behind the garden shelf, and out of just one vine too. Even as they mature, flowers are still popping out, all potential fruit. I can’t believe these things grow here in NM, they are so expensive in the markets, at least $3 each! Of the ten, I would be saving myself $30!
And I’m thinking, I could totally sell these if I grew them again next year, only I won’t be planting just one sprout, but at least six! I have the room and I love how they take care of themselves when I’m away too, I can go on vacation and they’ll continue to sprawl and bring pollinators to my garden.
Oh btw if we're sharing what we learned was real this year I just learned that horned melons/jelly melons are real and not just a tv show prop:
African Cucumber and Cherimoya. Really wanna try these fruits :)
