Minor Janus Invocation Rite

This is a minor invocation to Janus, Roman God of Opportunities, Doorways, and Gateways. This is a networking rite, to meet new people to help you along with your goals. It can be customized to represent specific types of people you would like to meet, although only the base form is written. 

Ingredients

Something biodegradable that is easy to scatter (herbs or seeds are best. Make sure the seeds, if alive, are safe for the local environment.)

Incense (optional) 

Voice or intent

A Gateway or Doorway to the outside of the building (this spell should be performed outdoors)

Significant Time/Days (the rarer/more precise, the better). Strongest on a Sunday, hours of Saturn, Mercury, or Jupiter 

Steps

1. By your chosen gateway and at the correct day and/or hour, say: 

Janus Pater, Janus Quirinus Janus Bifrons

May your two faces search my past and future Find who is right for me

2. Scatter the seeds/petals/herbs. 

3. Say “Open the path to....” or whatever you would like to put here to be more specific. 

4. Light the incense. 

5. Say “Vesta, please close this rite.”

6. Say thanks

Saturn Incantation

This incantation ensures that long-term situations, events, and deadlines do not work against you, as Saturn rules all things time and discipline related. Gain confidence in your own perseverance; earn Saturn’s respect. This incantation may be used for either the planet or god, as it does not specify whom it was written for. 

Saturn, Ruler of Time

I ask for you blessings divine. 

Grant me the gift to make long-term foes

Into spurs for prosperous growth. 

May time not be my enemy, but my friend:

So true and endless.

Friday Venus Incantation

I wrote this with the planetary days in mind, Friday being the day of Venus. As it doesn’t specify whether it refers to the planet or Goddess, it may be used for either. Proudly written in reverse iambic pentameter. 

Venus, with your beauty and grace

Grant me love’s share and fair of face.

This Friday’s day is height of power,

So bright shining on this hour.

At full strength, grant me your blessing;

Give me your aid so I may be more like you:

Bright with a soul of eternal youth.
