Benefits of Astrology Charts within Celestial/Cosmic Witchcraft
While the use of astrological charts isn’t inherently necessary in cosmic and celestial witchcraft, they can be very helpful and give a lot of context within one’s craft.
NOTE!: This is my personal understanding of the use of astrology charts within witchcraft. I implore you to do your own research and come to your own conclusions via said further research and your craft experience.
ᯓ★ Natal Charts
These charts are based on the position of the Sun when you were born. The Sun in our solar system is in charge not only of providing key catalysts in sustaining life on Earth, but also of holding our entire solar system in check. There wouldn’t be any planets within astrology or much of the astrological system as we know it without the Sun. Within traditional astrology, the Sun represents life/vitality, potential, spirit, perception, and the core of one’s identity. The Sun goes through cycles within our sky, shown through the ascendant (rising) and descendant (setting) houses. Demonstrating how just because there are set things within your chart there are still progressions and transformations over time.
The Natal Chart imo is the ultimate cheat code for making your spell work and the intentions of your workings tailored to your energy. It’s a great place also for reflection and unpacking certain mindsets and burdens. If you’re interested in working/worshipping planetary energies it can be a great way of identifying and finding cosmic allies.
Autumn Example: I’ve used my natal chart in shadow work to see my growth as a person and work on issues brought on by certain placements. I’m a Leo Mercury and am currently working with that placement to heal my self-doubt when it comes to problem-solving and analysis, become confident speaking in academic settings, but also in debates or topics I’m passionate about watching my volume, and disconnecting my self-worth from my performance in analytical or academic fields (which as a Virgo rising is HARD). I’ve also used my natal chart to inform my approach to spell work. Let’s say I want to manifest something in the field of career, I tend to look at my 10th house and my Saturnian placements to see how to ensure I’m fit to inhabit that house.
ᯓ☆ Transit Charts
These charts are used to analyze how current astrological events impact the world and you on an energetic level. Through degrees and locations of certain celestial bodies, it can influence different areas of your how things manifest within your day-to-day life. Often providing overall cosmic harmony and lessons in the areas of the natal chart that they might impact.
There are two ways, both valid, in working with transit charts. One way is focusing on the current transit as it is, how current placements of planets are impacting each other and what can be done with that energy (Venus in Taurus, or Jupiter in Cancer as of time posted). Another way is seeing how the transits appear and aspects with your natal chart, like transiting Venus aspecting your natal Mars and what that energy can bring for you.
Autumn Example: I typically use transits to first see if now of all times would be good to do spell work given positions both in transit and in my natal chart. Depending on whether I’m doing a spell to help me externally my focus is on the planets in transit themselves rather than natal, if it’s to help me internally I involve both the natal and transit, and if a mix on intention it depends on a few things.
ᯓ★ Solar Returns/Return Charts
A return is when the celestial body you’re looking at returns to the place it was when you were born. For a solar return typically on your birthday whereas for a lunar return (moon goes back to birth spot) for example it can vary. The purpose of these charts is to give a forecast of the themes that will come up during its new revolution around the sun till the next return.
These are similar to transits in a way given you’re looking at transiting planets in relation to your natal chart, though with returns it’s a bit more personal because of its appearance in the natal chart.
Returns are great for manifesting things since they do serve as astrological birthdays for the celestial objects returning. Not to mention for Solar Returns in particular possible themes of spell work during the span of the year. Also perfect time for doing divination with the planetary energy involved in the return, if you practice astrolatry.
Autumn Example: My 2025 solar return was heavy in Plutonian aspects and placements which has shown in my spell work as I’ve heavily focused on transformative workings. I use returns to manifest for things within the domains of the returning celestial object, like for a Venus return I might work with the transits generally in that time with a focus on Venusian or Leoan (Leo Venus) qualities.
ᯓ☆ Persona Charts
These charts are essentially natal charts but for specific celestial objects within your chart. This can range from planets, houses, asteroids, fixed stars, etc. Persona Charts are often used to get a better look at the true nature of certain placements and in turn a better understanding of you and what you might need in certain areas.
Persona Charts are great for manifesting qualities in the overall placement, it treats it like a person/character with dimension, depth and layers. I could say I want to do a glamour working on being more alluring, but what does that actually mean and what do I want about myself to be perceived as alluring? Persona Charts allow you to understand the strengths and weaknesses of a placement down to its core and make big magical intentions into tangible spell work steps.
Autumn Example: I adore working with persona charts as a creative, one of my favourite things to include in celestial magic. Following the idea of an allure glamour working I’d probably look at asteroid Sirene or planet Venus to better understand the strengths, struggles, and lessons that go with it. Through reflection I might determine what area in the chart corresponds to what I want area I want to be alluring, maybe it’s attracting people in business or in commitments, I might base my working off the Mercury or Venus in the Sirene or Venus persona chart.
ᯓ★ Synastry Charts
Synastry is essentially seeing how your natal chart aspects and interacts with someone else’s. This can show themes of your overall relationship with a person, areas of both connection and disconnect.
In spell work synastry is great for seeing how your energy interacts with someone else’s either in the sense of a conjoined/shared working or you doing a working for somebody else. It can show what your energy can bring to the table to help and how another person’s energy can be impacted by that.
Autumn Example: I use synastry when doing spell work for friends to see the best way I can use my energy to help them. For example, I did a Venusian working for a friend and I analyzed how my energy would influence their Sun, Venus, and Jupiter. Using that analysis I planned my spell work accordingly.
ᯓ☆ Extra Notes/Thoughts
There’s no one chart to rule them all, everyone’s practice is different and every chart can give a different perspective. It’s combining and looking at things from varying perspectives through the charts that not only can elevate your spell work but also lead to a better understanding of yourself and your goals magically.
In the context of astrolatry, it can also be a great way to better understand your relationship with the celestial object you worship and possible ways to work with them on both short and long term scale.
Anyways I hope y'all enjoyed this and found it helpful. Feel free to share your experience and thoughts on charts within spell work, cosmic magic, and celestial magic as a whole.

Yet, there is more to Orion than his prowess as a hunter— not to, however, minimize the importance of his hunterly aspects. Orion is associated with death and resurrection via his connection to Sah-Osiris. In Ancient Egyptian religion, Sah was a deity associated with a constellation that included the stars of Orion. His consort, Sopdet, known to the Greeks as Sothis, was the goddess linked to the star Sirius. Over time, Sah became identified with the more prominent god of the dead, Osiris, while Sopdet was connected to Isis, Osiris’s consort.
Both Sirius and Orion were tied to the annual flooding of the Nile. Sirius’s appearance in mid-June marked the start of the river’s gradual rise, which reached its peak by August in Upper Egypt and September in the northern regions. After seventy days of invisibility, Orion’s stars reappeared in the night sky, coinciding with the river turning a reddish color due to oxide sediments from the floodwaters. This red hue was evocative of blood—perhaps symbolizing the blood of Osiris. Mythologically, Isis’s tears (Sirius) for the slain Osiris (Sah/Orion) were believed to cause the river’s swelling. The dismemberment and scattering of Osiris’s body throughout Egypt symbolized the ritual fertilization of the land. His blood metaphorically transformed into water, which nourished the earth to bring forth life. When Orion became visible again, the floodwaters began to recede, and the first mounds of land emerged from the water, giving rise to new vegetation. The saturated black soil symbolizes rebirth, as Osiris himself was resurrected, his skin depicted as green like the lush plants of the valley.

Would your game have voice actors? If not, how would your characters sound like? Have you already gotten voice claims for them? I'm quite curious
TBH right now I'm more focused on it coming out at all, but I'd like to have voice actors later down the line once I'm 100% sure it's gonna work.
We're a small team and there's a lot of distractions and not enough manpower so we will see!
Honestly haven't thought of voice claims yet as I simply kinda just imagine what they sound like!
Are the Gods Picky?
A little while ago, I saw one pagan I follow get upset at another pagan I follow because the latter had posited the possibility that gods only look out for their own worshippers. The first person insisted that of course all the gods love us and suggested it was morally wrong or oppressive to say otherwise. This admittedly hit me as confusing because:
1. I didn't think the first opinion disputed that the gods love everyone, necessarily. It basically just read that if you believe in a certain god and were in a relationship with that god, it would advocate for you.
2. That still doesn't account for the reality that there are ton of shitty current events happening now, including several ongoing genocides, and to our tiny human knowledge, no literal deux ex machina has dropped in to curtail any of it. This kind of forces to question the idea that all gods love all humans equally because if that is true, the natural follow up question to this reality is, why then is this all still happening?
I think it's fair to give human/deity relations a little bit more complexity. Lucifer has more than implied to me that the Trojan War, although fictional, makes a good allegory for the occurrences in the land of the devas or wherever deities are situated. Supposedly from what I understood, there are more than 50 deities--which you can't condemn me for suspecting there is less because they all have so many damn faces--they are all related like a family, and yes they "have drama" as I once put it to Lucifer in a way he found very amusing. Really, I meant politics, but apparently it's all the same. The gods, which the Mesopotamians thought decided the course of worldly events and maybe that's still true, often wildly disagree on what to do with us. That's apparently when our human factions end up clashing.
I don't know how much political magic others have done with their spirits, but I have certainly done a little bit. Deities often seem bizarrely unbothered when you point out terrible things are happening (this is quite in line with Buddhism's cosmology that they are so separated from suffering they don't naturally note its continuing existence). Lucifer and the demons, although still calm, have appeared to me to be much more outwardly concerned about the cruelty humanity shows other living beings. Maybe that's how I ended up going to them for political and anti-fascist magic in the first place, come to think of it. I had understood demons as inherently more lateral to humans and found more empathy as a result.
I didn't actually see a ton of political change within my work, admittedly, and Lucifer has put in effort to deter me from influencing elections. He told me to reach out to Belial for help on fixing the world, but when Belial actually arrived he informed me, "I can't do outside work in this way, I can only work on you."
This suggests that as humans we have to become the work. If we want a better society, we need to be that better society. We need to angle ourselves as individuals that help and support other people as well as build new structures to make that sustainable. Without allowing ourselves to become vessels, whether you want to see that as literal or not, for the gods' work, the gods cannot reach our realm.
But also, not every god is able to or wants to work through you specifically. Maybe it's because I was in a rough space back when it happened, but a number of years ago when I was starting my pagan practice, Persephone outright rejected me. I then moved onto working with the planetary pantheon, which was years of experience that taught me that the spirits seem to prefer certain people. This preference was often evident in the natal charts: Jupiter, who is often called the best of the planets, for the most part ignored my friend and I whose natal Jupiters are in detriment. More to my positive self-esteem, I once witnessed Mercury show preference toward me over someone else during a group rite. I am very Mercurial and that other person was not, which may or may not correlate how much of Mercury's energy we have within us or our capacities to carry Mercury's work forward into the world.
So maybe the gods do love us all, but that doesn't mean they love us in the same way. Not everyone is the same, and that's okay! Not everyone can do the same amount or type of work with all the gods and that should be seen as a positive thing. Diversity in our gods, our relationships with them, and our practices is beautiful!
