ROXY... BABY GIRL...
she has a (currently undecided) learning disability that caused her to fall behind in school + overcrowded and underfunded lead to her slipping thru the cracks. ultimately led to her dropping out due to failing grades.
i haven’t decided which one yet because i’m still thinking about it, but i related to her strongly due to similar situations with my schooling (I have adhd). not nearly as severe like i never dropped out, but to this day lots of math escapes me bc I never learned and teachers never had the time to teach me
she can read basic words/understand them, just enough to be functional (like her name, band, etc.) but nothing beyond that
in the show, stormer found out about her reading problems when she couldn’t get out of not being able to read the lyrics stormer wrote
stormer being the sweetheart would work with her to work out a way so she can understand the lyrics without pizzazz finding out
i say all the jems are trans but roxy is Very Trans. when she dropped out she joined an all boys gang? she doesn’t want people to know her “real” name??? that’s a trans right there also i think once sophie said if she could she’d make roxy trans so bam there we go
she is not straight and never will be
in idw, she really liked the drums because she could be as loud as she wanted to be
less hc and more canon BUT in idw jetta is the one who helps roxy with reading (it’s sort of implied in one of the enter the stingers issues where jetta says she’ll explain things to her)
she really likes being spoiled, whether that be from friends or just splurging
in the cartoon, like stormer, she feels like she can’t make it without the misfits, she just hides it better
she gives GREAT hugs when you can wrangle one out of her
