Carter had Mr Rutha as his last lesson of the day on a Tuesday, which meant that by the time he got to the teacher's lesson he was always completely worn out.
At first others students had been concerned when Carter started to get exhausted by lunchtime and would sometimes even burst into tears if anyone said anything mildly negative to him or a teacher told him off. Carter had even wet himself in class a few times due to a combination of his weak bladder and being too tired to raise his hand and then argue on why he should be allowed to go to the bathroom. But by now they were all used to it and just got on with daily life around Carter, some of the kinder classmates occasionally stopping to help him with things. They also just let him be when he fell asleep.
On this day in Mr Rutha's lesson he managed to stay awake but was paying absolutely no attention due to being so tired.
