✧・゚ JENNY && OPEN
Three weeks into living in the town, and Jenny still wasn’t sure what to make of it. She was fascinated by it, and she’d learned a lot, but she still felt like there was so much more to learn, so much more to figure out... and there also looked to be forces trying to keep her from things. Her job at the research center was complicated. They gladly welcomed her to work on research concerning the barrier, time, and the different sorts of magic all roaming around the town at once. But there were other things too. Whispers, locked doors and secrets galore.
Jenny was determined to figure out what it was they were keeping from her. She’d even heard the word ‘fictional’ thrown around in whispers (they didn’t know how good her ears were), and sideways glances at her from scientists before they disappeared into rooms she wasn’t allowed. There was some big conspiracy, and Jenny felt like she was the only person being excluded.
She was pacing in the research facility’s front lobby, pondering, when an unfamiliar face walked through the door. Jenny glanced at the empty receptionist’s desk and figured she ought to do the greeting. Heck, maybe whoever this person was, they’d be interested in helping her, or perhaps helping them could at least be a worthwhile distraction from her thoughts.
“Hi, I’m Jenny,” she said, holding out a hand. “Welcome to the Alfred Hyde Research Center. How can I help you?”
