“Oh f-! Are you okay?”
The sun was just beginning its descent on the horizon as Jessica left the house, intent on making it to the library before it closed for the evening; she had just remembered a book she wanted to read had recently come out, and her burning curiousity about whether or not it had made it to the library yet had her rushing out in a large orange coat with an extra-large hood to keep the rain and other such undesirable things off her face. The hood was lovely except for the fact that it had a tendency to fall over her eyes and bar her from seeing anything, such as it was doing right now, causing her to--
“Oof!”
Crash.
She toppled over onto the wet sidewalk, scraping her forearm and earning a bump on the head from something she couldn’t yet see. Whatever -- or rather, whoever -- she hit let out a curse before promptly asking if she was alright. Jess pushed herself up from the sidewalk and pulled the hood from her head, wincing a little as she did. Apparently what hit her head had been a book, judging by the mass of them scattered around the walkway.
“Yeah,” Jess said, moving to pick up some of the fallen books. “I’m alright; just a scrape! Are you okay?”
