Oh, did I mention that Dark AU Jervis was poisoned by joker twice. Both times as a “joke”, and one of those times, joker was playing this “game” he’d made up, where people have to find out which glass is poisoned by having each person drink from one of them.

Jervis did not enjoy this game. The joker found it fucking hilarious. Jervis did not. At all. And he was very relieved when finally given the antidote after literally dying for several moments.

He didn’t talk to the joker for almost a month, and refused to ever accept drinks from him again.

The Tetch is back and I have a better idea of how his face is structured kind of.

I have reappeared to announce that I’ve gotten my hands on HUNDREDS of digital scans of Batman comic books dating all the way back to 1940 (for research purposes, of course)

Now know what my version of the goofy hat man REALLY Looks like.

I can’t share a photo just yet cause I’m still in the process of perfecting details and making it look a tiny bit less scribbly BUT

I Will at least say, as affectionately as possible.

That he has the skrunkliness of a baby bird.

Little thought-ramble on how the hat thing works (I’m incorporating that into the rewrite-)

So

He didn’t start out as a neuropsychologist. Or a neuroscientist of any kind.

He was a mechanical engineer.

Made little contraptions and gizmos out of clockwork bits in his foster dad’s shop, and later spent most of his time putting together brilliant little contraptions that he could fit into the hats and outfits he wore onstage, as well as parts of the set and everything.

He only ever made one hat-contraption that involved hidden electronics for the show. But it was a hit. And it landed him his gig at the Wayne Enterprises party.

The contraption looked very simple, unassuming, but it had taken him months just to figure out how to put it together, because he’d been struggling with the task of hiding a flat, angular chip in the curved shape of a hat. He’d wound up having to make the chip itself from scratch or something — after doing extensive research on how to do so — so that he could hide it in the hat-band without too much trouble.

But once he’d gotten it all together, and had carefully sewn the whole thing into the hat, he’d been able to use it to basically do “magic”.

By somehow using the faint pulses from his brain to trigger the chip to send infrared signals that could control certain aspects of the set.

He could turn stage lights on and off. Have confetti explode into the crowd. Took him ages to figure out how to trigger the right things.

But again… that hat was only used for two shows. And he only ever made one. Before vanishing, with two counts of murder trailing along after him.
