When I was in, I think it was, 5th grade, my family and I drive cross country. Back in the days of no GPS and cell phones. Just maps and planning. We stayed at mainly KOAs across the country and I got to see so many states. It's one of my favorite trips because it was regal but also beautiful to see more than just the state we lived in. There was also a moment when we were at the Air Force base in Colorado and I asked my Dad "but if they die, they die for their country, right?" And he said to me "don't let them make you believe that. When you're older, you'll understand." I've never forgotten that. Great trip to experience. (But biting flies in Wyoming can kiss my black ass.)
