I knew I was forgetting something. Check out the new album from Jesse Hardman (Music), featuring some killer acoustic blues/folk with some tasty lead guitar by one of Skidmore's premier guitarists. Jesse's voice, in both the literal aesthetic sense and in the non-literal songwriting voice sense, has really grown since his last release and I look forward to more tunes in the future. New Jesse Hardman (Music) Single "Sojourn"

Skidmore bluesman and all-around heartthrob Jesse Hardman recently released another single, the title track of his upcoming electric album Sojourn (are you supposed to italicize album names? idk).  It’s a blues song reminiscent of the work of Joe Bonamassa, but there’s something… mystifying about it.  In a brief interview on my couch before Compton’s this Saturday, Jesse said he was listening to a lot of St. Vincent while writing and recording this album, and while this doesn’t go wholly in that direction, you can definitely hear that influence. There are some strange sounds, such as the undercurrent of warbly keys and the reverb-drenched volume swells of the intro.  We also get to hear him show off his lead guitar prowess for one of the first times in his official releases, but anyone who has ever seen him perform knows that he is quite the axeman.
