Been working hard on an invited Indoor Air editorial, due to Bill Nazaroff December 13.  All Indoor Air editorials are openly available.  I am using a writing model that I learned at the Op-Ed Project.

It's recommendation letter writing season.  It's a joy to write letters for fabulous people.

We (Anita Doron, Adam Huggins, Steve & Jess Green) have a complete draft outline of the 1st chapter of our graphic novel, which we will soon hand of to our creative producer Alex Jansen - founder of Pop Sandbox.  

Learning about immunology.  Dinner with Jean-Claude Weill this week, coffee with Graham Rook next week.

This week’s Paris-Microbe science fiction graphic novel workshop, which just ended today, was a smashing success!  Thanks to Anita Doron, Adam Huggins & Steve Green.  Cities Unseen now has a scientific scaffold, creative narrative, and 2013-2014 Strategic Plan.  November 7 is our deadline (Steve & Anita lead) on the cast of characters (story + imagery).  My job is to continue to develop and articulate the scientific scaffold, which in brief entails the colonization of the most common tree species in Paris by a beneficial bacteria, which then disperses to human hosts & fundamentally changes their sense of identity and what it means to be human.

The BioBE Center annual progress report was submitted to the Sloan Foundation this week, thanks to everyone on the team for making the report such a pleasure to write.

Spent all day working on my AAAS talk, only to find out that it has been postponed due to to the U.S. government shutdown.

During Helene Morlon's lab group meeting today we have her feedback on a talk she is preparing for a prestigious EU grant, for which she has made the short list.

Working on our Lillis dust ms revisions and reviewer responses.  Seeking clarity on how concepts related to architectural form and function relate to network-based metrics like centrality and betweeness.

Spent most of the day drafting and submitting a second round of peer-review journal reviews.

Contributed to the GBMF seagrass microbiome grant review responses with Jonathan Eisen & Jay Stachowitz.

Checked in via Skype with Gwynne, James and Josh about the #UrbanMicrobiome project. Next steps include considering potential of building on the PGP/1000 homes project. Have plans to connect with Katie Pollard about this once she returns from travel the week of October 1. Will follow up with Graham Rook’s suggested epidemiology contacts.
