Last Chance! Top 10 NYC Rooftop Scenes
It’s sad but true: fall is almost here. Before the temperature dips, be sure to hit at least one of these standout rooftop spots — we’ve got one for every mood.
1. THE VIBE Tuscan Terrace
La Birreria, Eataly
The newly opened brewery at Mario Batali’s Italian empire has 150 seats and a retractable roof for sunny days, and offers house-brewed beer (all available to taste before you order) served through traditional hand pumps. On the menu: pork shoulder with sauerkraut, housemade sausages and fried mushrooms.
2. THE VIBE Party Pad
Sky Terrace, The Hudson
Open only to hotel guests (or by invitation), the expansive, 15th-floor Sky Terrace — filled with trees in oversize pots, loungers, candles, even a hammock made for two — looks out on Ninth Avenue and the Hudson River. Sip cocktails, nibble light bites like tuna tartare (brought by servers clad in sheer black tanks over bikini tops) and dance as a DJ spins late into the night.
3. THE VIBE Downtown Minimalist
Jimmy, James New York
The folks here cultivate exclusivity — the lounge is accessible to hotel guests until 9 PM, and after that, there’s a controlled entrance on the ground floor — and the inventive cocktails (one standout: bourbon with ice made of cinnamon water and bark) are priced accordingly. But oh, the view: floor-to-ceiling glass walls frame the downtown landscape, from the Empire State building to the Hudson to the World Trade Center site. On warm days, the crowd spills out on the sleek outdoor pool deck.
