The ground suddenly fell away from beneath David’s feet, a surprise yell escaping his mouth. They’d been fighting the Lost Ones, when Peter Pan had concocted a hell of a storm. A torrential rain fell, soaking the earth beneath their feet as swords clashed and lightning struck around them. A Lost Boy had backed him up to the edge of a cliff before being struck down, but the ground became so saturated, so weak, that it could no longer hold him.
David gripped her hand as tightly as possible in its wet state, looking up at her as best he could through the rain. He could already see her slipping closer and closer to the edge. Trying to swing his hand up to the ledge only proved to make her slide more, and his face visibly dropped. This is it. “Snow, it’s okay.”
"No! I can hold you!" She screamed defiantly, refusing to let go. "I am not losing you to this place!" Slipping a bit more, her arms were now completely over the edge.
"I’m not letting Emma lose you, too!" He was sure her tears had mixed with the rain, and he tried to keep his face as strong as he could, for her sake. "It’s going to be okay, Snow."
"No! Just hold on!" Looking behind her, Hook and Emma were completely oblivious, fighting off Lost Ones at the treeline of the forest. She yelled as loud as she could, but the rain and thunder drowned out the noise. Looking back, David gave her a watery smile. One that she couldn’t return. "I can’t lose you… Don’t you let go!"
"I love you, Snow!" He yelled over the roaring thunder. "I love you so much." His hand was slipping, and there was no way he got get his grip back without pulling her with him.
"Don’t you leave me!"
"I’ll see you again." Their fingertips were barely linked, and just a few more seconds would mean the end of him. "Tell Henry and Emma that I love them."
"Tell them yourself!" She cried out, tears falling, but unable to be seen.
"I love you!" And he was falling.
"NO! DAVID!" She reached out in vain for a hand that wasn’t there, watching him plummet out of sight.
Her True Love was gone, the pain in her chest only confirming her fears. The rain eventually stopped, but the tears still continued to flow. Snow cried against the cliff face, still hanging slightly off the side, arm outstretched as if a hand would grab it at any moment, but that moment never came.
