GOOD NEWS | JAX & WREN — @theseascribbles
Jackson Flynn’s life had taken a sharp U-turn when Wren had made her appearance. Before meeting the blonde, drink had been the main feature in his life. It had been the way he dulled the pain he still felt from being left at the alter a handful of years ago. When he hadn’t been drinking, his life revolved around music and his band. Blue Highway were set to play a string of gigs and thanks to Art, their first album was officially underway. His life had on track and his childhood dream was within reaching distance. That was when Wren showed up on his doorstep, a month after their drunken night together.
The news of her pregnancy had sent Jax reeling, so much so he’d had to sit down from the shock. He hadn’t remembered much of their time together, but he’d been sure he’d used protection. Obviously, that was not the case. The pair had spoken over coffee and though the news was still fresh, the more Jax thought on the matter, the more he knew he wanted to be there for Wren and their baby. He knew he wanted to be involved in their child's life. In the past, Jax had never thought about having kids, not even when he was engaged to be married. The possibility never seemed real to him, but seeing their baby - their daughter - on the ultrasound that afternoon opened his eyes to the reality of what was to come. He and Wren were going to have a baby; they were going to be parents.
After leaving the doctor’s office, Jax hadn’t wanted to say goodbye to Wren, not just yet. Really, he doubted he ever wanted to leave her’s and the baby’s side. It was like he was scared the whole thing would come crumbling down if he took his eyes off them for a second, and so he had invited Wren back to his apartment, promising take out of her choosing to sweeten the deal. It was how they ended up at his apartment building, takeaway bag in one hand as he jingled his keys in the other, trying to get the damn thing to turn in the lock. “You’ll ‘ave to excuse the mess. I didn’t think to clean up before leaving this mornin’.”
