anyway heading to bed soon. but i do feel it's important that galapagos is a little bit of an asshole. like, she's in a new time and she's never really been out of hoarfrost; and everything she thought she knew about the world beyond her home island is either gone or so far different that it may as well be gone. it's very important to me that she doesn't react the best to this.
galapagos is, in a way, the opposite of what one would expect from most anyagi. yes, she's sweet and excitable in the right circumstances...but most the time, she is facing a world that would probably react horribly to her existence--as they did with the rest of the anyagi some nine centuries ago. she's still a kid, and she's a stubborn one, at that. she has a fight, and she's not going to let that fight in her die out before she learns what happened.
i think it also comes down to the fact that galapagos does feel a guilt to hibernating when everyone else died around her. it wasn't her fault, no, but it still carries heavy on her shoulders and she doesn't want to run. she wants to stand her ground and be as strong as she knew her family was.
