Syed Jaun Elia. He was a Pakistani progressive Marxist, Urdu poet, philosopher, biographer, and scholar. He argued that Marxism and Religion can be combined. His poems reflect his revolutionary ideas and his love is always unrequited. Nihilism, loneliness, a deep grief of separation and self-destruction are the central themes of his poetry and each line will tug your aching heart. My own poetry is influenced by John Elia and I consider him as a teacher. On his birthday, I would like to pay him tribute by translating one of his poems in English. #jhoneliya (at Beijing) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrZnbz6HuKS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=u3vy6pr71r8b
