The moments where the infected start changing, combined with that cracking noise? Absolutely not. Genuinely unsettling. The sound design did a lot of heavy lifting there (and everywhere else honestly) and it worked. Every time I heard it, my entire body was preparing for the worst.
Tense as hell from start to finish.
It does a really good job of keeping that constant feeling of dread hanging over everything. Even during quieter scenes, it feels like something terrible is just around the corner.
And some of the cinematography was really well done. There were a few shots that really stood out and helped elevate the atmosphere beyond just being another zombie movie.
Also, if it's Ji Chang-wook, I'm sat.
The man continues to have an absolutely ridiculous hit rate when it comes to getting me invested in whatever chaos his character is dealing with.
The ending also sets up a sequel really nicely. It gives enough closure that the story feels complete while still leaving the door wide open for more.
Tense, creepy, and genuinely unsettling in places. Exactly what I want from a zombie movie.
