The first of the above photos is a tracking shot of Noriko as she runs downstairs to help Ushio into the building with his luggage. I chose this moment because it instantly reminded me of cinema verite methodology.. the buzzer rings, Noriko says, “Ushio!” and then the camera follows her as she runs through her house, down the dark stairway, and outside to meet Ushio. 

The second of the above photos is an example of another way the director utilized cinema verite in this film which is through found footage. Throughout the film we are introduced to the past lives of Ushio and Noriko through the stylings of “home video” which all happen to resemble cinema verite technique.
