Joe’s POV:

"I know, I miss you too Nena." I roll my eyes. Wilmer is a cool guy and all but, does he have to talk to Demi in front of me? "Only a few more days and I can watch you trip and fall on stage at your concert." Wilmer chuckled into the phone. 

"Shut up!" I can faintly hear Demi squeak through the phone followed by a giggle. I miss her laugh. I miss being the one making her laugh.

"You’re so cute when you laugh…" Wilmer said as if he was reading my mind. I throw my head back in annoyance. Wilmer turned and his face fell when he saw how annoyed I looked.

"I’ve got to get going Hermosa. I’ll call you later tonight before I go to bed." He paused listening to Demi answer. “I love you too my angel. Bye." Wilmer hung up the phone and looked at me.

"How is she doing?" I ask genuinely interested.

"She’s great. She’s in a very good place these days. I’m so proud of her." I smile. I’m proud of her too. Demi is one of the strongest girls I have ever met. I really admire her strength. 

"You’re a very lucky man, Wilmer. You better take good care of her…" I say breaking the awkward silence. I still love Demi, but I need to accept that she is happy with Wilmer. All that matters to me is her happiness, even if I couldn’t be the man to give it to her. 

"You know I would never do anything to hurt her." I believe him 100% when he says that. People might think it’s weird that I’m friends with my ex’s current boyfriend but I have a great respect for Wilmer because he respects Demi. I stand up from my seat and hold out my hand to give Wilmer a bro hug.

"Come on, let’s go. I’ve been waiting for your whipped ass for half an hour." I joke and Wilmer laughs as we head out the door.
