So much for silence in the library || Lily and James
James couldn't understand what people loved about the the library so much, with its no nonsense atmosphere and governed by the rule of the iron-stared librarian. There was the books, he supposed, but it still didn't make much sense. Particularly the insubordinate amounts of time Lily Evans spent in there. He knew from peeking in or asking her friends or spotting her familiar labelled dot on the Marauder's Map. But he was not a prejudiced person (or he was broadening his horizons a little more) so that afternoon, he swung into the library, his bag slung across his shoulder.
It wasn't entirely coincidental that Lily happened to be there at the same time since he'd seen her coming this way. The rest of the Marauders had looked astounded when he said he was actually going to do that Care of Magical Creatures homework, but they didn't pursue it. They only had those funny looks in their eyes, the gits.
Despite knowing she would probably rather have almost anybody else sitting next to her, James had no qualms about it. He spotted her instantly (her vivid coloured hair always attracted his attention) and made his way over and dumped his bag onto the seat. "Hey Evans, what's that you're up to?" he asked, fully aware of how loud he was in the hushed whispers. And he was enjoying it. For some reason, it was just too much fun getting on Lily's nerves. Maybe it was just getting such a strong reaction from her at all, even if it was far from affectionate. That's not to say that he wouldn't like her to love him, or even like him. As long as she wasn't apathetic about him. As long as she thought about him sometimes, even with annoyance, it was one step closer to what he wanted.
