Jim Fiscus
Jim Fiscus is an award-winning visual storyteller and conceptual photographer. He is known for producing striking images in a rich, cinematic style, whilst also using his own vivid imagination to create complex environments for his subjects to interact in.
At the heart of Jim's work is storytelling, which he conveys through his sensitive use of light to encapture the different feelings and emotions of his subjects, resulting in the ability to not only produce a set of engaging and arresting images but also to allow each commission to stand on its own.
The Unfortunate Moment of Misunderstanding is a personal project from Jim Fiscus. A “digital novella” produced from scratch that tells the story of an obsessive wood carver who makes life-size dolls of the same woman over and over again. With much experience of incorporating computer-generated imagery into his work, Jim captured 60% of the shot in camera working alongside 3D visualisations of the environment and then enhanced the images in post, bringing the world he had conceived to life. Jim worked with the same model throughout. All of her outfits were designed bespoke and hand-made for this project.
