I did not find out about the Docklands Blues Music Festival on Sunday until my friend, Win rang me up on the morning of the day itself.
It was really crowded when I finally got there in the evening and I did not think I was able to shoot as there were barely any standing space around while I bobbed to the tunes of Dreamboogie.
In the end, I was very fortunate to not only get the best seat in the house for the final three bands but to get close enough to shoot with the 35mm Summilux!
There was even a bonus aerialist act as it was held in Wonderland Spiegeltent, somewhat of a circus tent.
Gravity defying act by the aerialist.
Greg Dodd & The Hoodoo Men.
Note Hoodoo and not Voodoo.
I searched it and yes there is a difference!
Greg Dodd & the Hoodoo Men!
Hoodoo is different from Voodoo!
Hailing all the way from Germany, the Johnny Rieger Band.
All the way from Germany!
A wonderful performance from the Johnny Rieger Band
The bands played really amazing blues music throughout the night but the highlight of the entire festival was the Jimi Hocking Band in which Win was a huge fan of.
After his performance, I can see why he is the highlight and I am a new Jimi Hocking fan.
I heard he has a showy guitar style and he did not disappoint with his stunts on the guitar, on and off the floor!
Playing the Guitar behind the head
The audience went wild as it got later into the night; the entire place was on their feet!
I’m pretty sure alcohol helped too.
Before and after:
Michelangelo -Jimi Hocking style
I had so much fun listening to all the great bands and had an absolute blast!
See you at the Docklands Blues Music Festival 2015!
