Jimin for Rolling Stone's May 2026 issue.
Jimin gave an interview to Consequence where he talks about his new song, set me free pt.2
“This album talks about how I look back on myself and how I overcame… If people understand the emotions I’m trying to express, I’ll consider the album a success,” he says.
“I wanted to announce a “Jimin solo” in an impactful way.”

“Set me free” means setting myself free, so I thought it was important that I be the one to set myself free — not someone else. In the end, I’m the one who has to set myself free.
A deep dive into the inspiration behind the BTS member's new solo single.
I'm rereading Jimin's interview for Vogue and thinking of the one for WKorea as well, I get the impression I'm still hearing the nicely PR-ish words of Jimin of BTS and not Park Jimin, the individual and artist. I can understand that it's promotional material, but it doesn't mean there's no chance to actually go in depth a bit more. I've said this before, there's no point in having certain expectations and a specific level of discourse from everyone, but with a good interviewer, it's possible.
That's not the case here. Pre approved questions and vague/generalized responses tied neatly with a bow on them don't reveal much or say something significant. A good piece is the result of the interviewer finding the right way to dig deep and press further, in order to make the one interviewed to elaborate more on their thoughts.
For someone who is releasing an album that traces personal experience and someone who is at least an accomplished dancer and musician as well who had made a significant contribution to a group in terms of creating some of their famous melodies as well, you'd think there is plenty of material out there. I doubt Jimin is just a pretty face, a famous idol, the IT boy and all the accolades that are surface level. I find it impossible for him not to be able to talk about the artistic component of his work, if the more personal aspect is still guarded, which I can understand. At the same time, this is only the beginning of him being seen as separate of BTS and perhaps things can change in the future.
I just hope that at some point, he meets an interviewer that knows how to bring to the surface what's truly important. And to have an actual conversation face to face, not through email. I don't think one has to have the reputation of an intellectual in order to get interesting questions.
In Full Bloom Indeed
The prettiest flower
Jimin's W Korea is now available in English:
BTS' Jimin tells stories solely with his movements onstage- nimble and light but bold and majestic, sometimes. Now he perches on before the
This part struck me the most:
Have you ever been driven to tears at any point in your career—whether it be when you were a trainee or after your debut? If you could say something to Jimin in the past, what would it be?
Oh, I cried many times, saying I was exhausted, tired, and I don’t know what to do. But, I didn’t have anything to say to myself back then. I got here because I went through all of that (laughs).
Jimin really seems to be that person who doesn't dwell on the past and knows his worth after everything that he went through. He also seems to have a one-track mind, which can explain how he ticked off the goals he set for himself even at a very young age. Such a mindset can also be the reason why he works so hard on every endeavor. He is very driven and will not stop until he is satisfied with the result. This can also explain why he enjoys not doing anything during his downtime because, after all that hard work, all you really want to do is just rest and recharge and enjoy the simple things in life.
I would love to learn more about Jimin. Maybe he'll share more in his album. But even if we don't really get a soul-baring tale from him, the things Jimin shares now are more than enough for me to admire and love him as an artist and respect him as a human being.
The one and only, THE Park Jimin

Jimin has been making lots of headlines recently, with the rumor of his solo release in February, the announcement of his association with Dior, and his collab single release with Taeyang of BigBang. Jimin also recently surprised fans with a solo magazine cover with W Korea which seemingly marked the beginning of his solo era. Jimin looked amazing in the pictures for the magazine, dressed in all Dior. Jimin is also confirmed to be attending the upcoming Dior show at Paris Fashion Week, which will also be his first fashion show appearance of his.
Jimin talked about a variety of topics in his interview with W Korea magazine.
Jimin was asked about his parents his’reaction when he first told them that he was going to become a Dior ambassador. He answered, “My parents always say with a happy expression, ‘I’m really proud of my son.”
Q – Did you find the answer to ‘what I want the most’, which will be the starting point for Jimin’s solo album?
ans – “I couldn’t find a grandiose and clear answer. I don't think there's a more appropriate expression other than 'I just want to do my current job better for a long time'. So I’m looking back one by one, reflecting on my past feelings and organizing them”
About PJM1: “I’ve been asking the producers, ‘what about this?’ ‘what about that’. I've been working on music. I definitely felt a lot of 'enjoyable' feelings ^^ The more I did it, the more I enjoyed it, so I thought that our members told me 'I wish I could work on music' so that I could feel these things ^^ Connecting it to creation and work was another matter. It wasn’t that easy or fun”
Q – You can imagine and draw your future for a while. What do you expect and hope for Jimin as time goes by?
ans- “I want to be a person who can afford it. If I want to be able to relax in things like music or the stage, I have to become a person who is good at it In order to be able to afford it, my heart must be as strong as that, and I need to create a more solid environment. I want to become a person who can keep my promise to be that way”
