***SPOILERS FOR PART 1 OF THE SEASON 9 PREMIERE*** And so it begins - the final season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And what better way to start it off than with BRAINWASHING!!! ...wait, wha? Jasper's ACTUAL Thoughts: Dang.... it really DOES feel like the beginning of the end! Probably one of the most solid openers in a long time, and an awesome setup to an ongoing arc. I really loved how self-aware the ponies are getting (It took them 9 years to realize that the Princesses... don't really do a lot). And yeah, I totally sympathize with Twilight's panicking - even if you are qualified to do something THIS big, it doesn't change the fact that it's still a big deal - and sometimes you gotta get the panicking out of your system before you're ACTUALLY ready to take on the task -though the encouragement helps a little. And yeah, we finally get to meet Grogar -and I gotta say, he's not too shabby! I like how he has the idea to bring the remaining major villains together, but I have two minor complaints - 1) Sombra's new voice took a while to grow on me and he acted more like Trixie... except, you know, he ACTUALLY accomplishes stuff! And 2) Cozy Glow.... just Cozy Glow. Why does she insist on keeping up the "aren't I just pwecious" act even AFTER she's already lost bad?! It doesn't make her endearing, it just makes her disgusting! ...aaaand spoot, the elements are gone.... bummer.
