SESSION 3

Today, we made butterfly prints! It’s when you put paint on the paper and closing it so that it will be on the other side too. I found that using paint was a bit messy, and we had to cleanup quite a lot, with all the newspapers that we spread around. I don’t think we should use paint in the future as it has a chance of damaging their furniture and it is a risk. Also, another problem we had was that there was only 1 paintbrush for each table. Just as this tried to teach them patience, they were growing impatient as well. However, in the second group, we had to open up another table, as there was not enough space. This caused there to be no paintbrush for that one group. In times like these, we would have to come up with a solution - which was for them to use their fingers. Although we were all worried that they might dirty their uniform, they were very responsible. They also had to share all the paint they used, which could be their first step towards teamwork. Although some of them were reluctant at the beginning, they still managed to do it in the hand.

I can remember the little girl called Angel, whom I first met on the last session, and she was sick. She was much more lively today than she was the previous session, which is good. She, being a bit small even for her age, asked me to go to the toilet with her to wash her hands. At that time, I barely knew the compound of the school, so I had to let her lead the way. It was a bit funny, as she seemed puzzled as to why I wasn’t leading the way instead. We entered the toilet, and I realized that she was too short to reach for the tap, so I helped her press it. I can still remember that smile on her face when she went back to the activity room, and I was glad that I could help her.
