— 𝓽he air in the room smelled of old wood, liquor and butterscotch. the symphony of chuckles and chats played as it usually did, occasionally accompanied by clinking of glasses or the ringing of the bell hanging from the door frame announcing the arrival of another customer. aaron had taken one of the seats by the bar, and his glass remained half-full ( or half-empty, depending on who was asked ). he looked around, locking eyes with someone before nodding in the direction of the bar.
“ d’you fancy a free drink ? everything on the menu’s 2 x 1 today, ” he asked, gesturing at his glass. it was as though finishing that one drink was taking him ages, so he couldn’t imagine having to get a second one on top of it.
