If Clark was being honest, he hadn’t noticed the time until Jon stepped through the door. Despite how the situation looked, he hadn’t been sitting on the loveseat, a single lap on him as he read the book on his lap buying time until his son tried to sneak back in. If he was being honest, he would’ve admitted to avoiding Lois, avoiding how cold his side of the bed felt when her back was turned to him, admitted that this whole time he’d been sitting there he thought Jon had been in bed. But the situation, the turn of events, had taken him so much by surprised Clark just stared at Jon in the entryway, his book forgotten in his lap. “Sixteen seems a bit too young to start sneaking out don’t you think?” His head tilted. “I️ would’ve thought we didn’t have to worry about this for at least a couple of years?”
