Every year World Hepatitis Day is observed on July 28. Four to 43 out of 100,000 adults and about 2 to 10 out of 100,000 children have autoimmune hepatitis, according to the American National Institute of Health.

Hepatitis is a disease characterized by the inflammation of the liver. There are 5 main hepatitis viruses, referred to as types A, B, C, D and E.

World Population Day is an annual event, observed on July 11 every year, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues. The purpose of the day is to increase the awareness that people have about a number of different population issues, including the importance of human rights, maternal health, poverty, gender equality, and family planning.

#WorldAIDSDay occurs on December 1 and was established by the World Health Organization (#WHO) in 1988 to facilitate the exchange of information among national and local governments, international organizations, and individuals.

The “Equalize” slogan is a call to action. It is a prompt for all of us to work for the proven practical actions needed to address inequalities and help end #AIDS. These include:

Increase availability, quality and suitability of services, for #HIV treatment, testing and prevention, so that everyone is well-served.

Reform laws, policies and practices to tackle the stigma and exclusion faced by people living with HIV and by key and marginalized populations, so that everyone is shown respect and is welcomed.

Ensure the sharing of technology to enable equal access to the best HIV science, between communities and between the Global South and North.

Communities will be able to make use of and adapt the “Equalize” message to highlight the particular inequalities they face and to press for the actions needed to address them.
