An Urban Feathursday
On this last #Feathrusday of 2017 we present a series of relief prints by English artist and illustrator Jo Spaul, from her first publication Urban Birds, hand-set and letterpress printed in 1999 on Zerkall antik-jutemeliert paper at Incline Press by Graham Moss and Kathy Whalen in an edition of 180 copies. Moss and Whalen matched Spaul’s prints with poems on birds from the late 14th century (Chaucer) to the late 20th century (Jim Burns). Click on the images to see some snippets.
The edition was hand-sewn and bound in stamped black cloth by Stephen Conway and Elaine Lonsdale. Our copy bears a signed presentation inscription from Graham Moss to our friend and benefactor Jerry Buff, and is one of 25 special copies in a black cloth slip-case with an illustrated, letterpress broadside and an original signed print laid in.
