Event Review: JOACHIM GARRAUD + Spencer & Hill @ GIRLS & BOYS Dec 9
It's 12:36 PM on Saturday December 10th and I'm surprisingly not hung over! Lets get down to this shit. We arrived at Webster Hall at midnight with the NSV crew and surprisingly enough the Main Ballroom wasn't open to the public yet, so we rocked out a bit on the middle floor before coming up and seeing our favorite resident DJs, Alex English and rekLES; doing one of the best opening sets I've seen in a while. Shout out to you guys for never disappointing!
Around 1:30 AM we see Joachim and his crew of invaders come up on stage with free swag(hats, shirts, stickers and alien mask) for the crowd! I didn't know what to expect since I missed Joachim at Electric Zoo to see The Bloody Beetroots - Death Crew 77 instead. When his set started, nothing would ever prepare myself or anyone else for what went down. Opening up with The Loops of Fury remix of Be Strong by Elite Force, Joachim had successfully started his invasion of New York City. He had also dropped Calling(by Alesso and Sebastian Ingrosso) but to my surprise and I'm pretty sure everyone else's he pulled out his keyboard guitar and starting doing his own cover of it on stage. Which made EVERYONE go fucking NUTS! However when he dropped "Sandstorm", that's when we knew the invasion had been successful and we were all mind fucked! Closing out with the classic "Smack My Bitch Up" by The Prodigy, the invasion had been successful and all of Webster Hall was in awe. Let us not forget for those who were there that the Def Jam crew along with the always awesome Armand Van Helden were in attendance as well!
Next up we had Spencer & Hill who closed out the night with some amazing bootlegs, mashups, and their own originals!
Thanks to Alex English, Webster Hall, Joachim, and the rest of the G&B crew for making another memorable night! Tune in late tomorrow for our review of The Bloody Beetroots and Proxy at Terminal 5!
Highlight Track of the night!
