The romantic home of the celebrated late British travel author and war hero Patrick Leigh Fermor and his photographer wife Joan, on the Mani Peninsula in the Peloponnese, will open to the public in 2018 under the stewardship of the wonderful @thebenakimuseum An intimate seating area near the fireplace, based on one in the Palace of Cantacuzino in Romania, features two large Japanese 17th-century paintings of goshawks jessed in blue and crimson, a semi-geometric roofscape and a design of plants by Greek artist Ghika and, top right, "Jamaican Foliage" by Lucian Freud. Photo by Derry Moore for Architectural Digest, November 1986. Thank you @miguelfloresvianna for sharing this remarkable story of a life well lived.
