Broadcast Alert: Schönberg’s Gurre-Lieder with Connolly et al. this Friday

Back in April, there was a concert performance of Arnold Schönberg’s Gurre-Lieder at the Philharmonie de Parie that prompted a flurry of ecstatic tweets from the audience and won at least one sterling review for Sarah Connolly’s part as the Waldtaube (Wood-Dove). Fortunately for those of us who couldn’t be in Paris to hear it, this “heaven-storming” concert was recorded by France Musique and will be broadcast this Friday, July 1, at 14:00 Paris time. That’s 13:00 BST or 8:00 a.m. in the eastern US. (World Concert Hall link.)

This is definitely a broadcast to mark on your calendar if you want to hear it, as France Musique says it will NOT be available for listening on demand later.
