(Inspired by @dumblr-account saying they're both nerds)
Turn the tutor trope on it's head! For the first time ever, Ryland is struggling in his biology class. He begs for a tutor to maintain his straight As.
Cue the tutor, a jock named Simon who Ryland's seen around and seems "notoriously stupid." This is... he's pranking him right, he told his tutor not to come and came in his sted?
But he's explaining these concepts really well and he has a great comprehension.
After a few sessions, Ryland brings this up.
"Yknow, when you first came up to me saying you were my tutor, I thought it was a prank. No offense, yknow, you're just like..."
"I dont seem smart," Simon guessed.
"No, it’s not that. It's more that people dont treat you like your smart."
"Yeah, that's true," Simon agreed. "Whenever I show that I'm smart, I'm told to shut up and stop bragging. So I just... don't. It's easier that way."
"I see," Ryland said. "Yeah, I'm not sure I could really shut up if I tried."
"Yeah, I've noticed." Grace looks down, embarrassed. "Not a bad thing. I dont want you to shut up,"
And they like fall in love and stuff.
(PS, the part Ryland is struggling with has to do with plants. Because duh.)
