A resident Coati (Nasua narica) near the Umbrellabird Lodge. . Etymology “The Nasua genus comes from the Latin word nasus, nose, and the narrative epithet is derived from two words from the Latin naris nose window and ica suffix that means belongs to, alluding to the long and flexible nose that this species possesses ( Tirira, 2004).” . Their flexible noses are pretty funny to watch poke around, like fingers digging through the dirt for tasty grubs. .
