The Serviceberry is already blooming (usually in May), and there is a lot of wooing going on the the yard. The Redwinged Blackbirds are so expressive, especially on a sunny day. It is funny to me how their looks range from gloriously magnificent to hilariously goofy. Nature! I'd be weak too if I was a RWBB girl 🤩😁

On the Branches of Peace
The world may argue and tremble, but on a blooming maple branch a starling stands in quiet dignity.
Sunlight touches its feathers like brushed metal, and for a second everything feels balanced again.
There is still blue above us. There are still birds.
Cold Feet
Notice how the feet of this mourning dove (Zenaida macroura) disappear beneath a blanket of feathers, tucked up into its body to stay warm. Pretty cool, huh. Last year I only saw three of these birds around this time; this year there are at least twice that many.
If you're a fan of stunning dove imagery, be sure to explore my photo gallery for a collection of beautiful snapshots that capture their elegance and charm.
