Fatal | Timber | 1993

Once Tragedy Khadafi’s original DJ, Joe Fatal (real name Joseph Burgos) was pushed into becoming an emcee by right-hand and long time friend Large Professor, who put him into the legendary posse-cut “Live At The BBQ” off the first Main Source LP “Breaking Atoms”, alongside newcomers Akinyele and Nas (who was introduced to Large Pro by Fatal himself). That posse-cut made him and Nas be down with MC Serch’s Serchlite, who got Fatal a record deal with Columbia right before Cypress Hill got interested in him and he decided to sign to DJ Muggs Souls Assassins instead (because of that, Columbia’s deal went to Nas). Because of DJ Muggs issues with his record label, Fatal’s deal was over and that was the end of his rap career. In 1993 however Atlantic dropped Fatal’s first single “Timber” b/w “Pass The Kronz”, produced by T-Ray and Baka Boyz, and executive produced by DJ Muggs.
