Calgary Bound
Today, I hopped in my car to start the first trip of my cross Canada tour with The Midway State. I left Vancouver and braved the snow laced roads that meander through some of BC and Albert's highest mountain passes. If I didn't grow up in BC, I'd probably be freaking out. The roads were as bad as I've seen them. I came across two over turned vehicles and a handful of large cargo trucks stuck on some of the steeper climbs. Thankfully, I had plenty of music and a satellite radio to keep me company on the 13 hour commute.
I'm in Calgary to rehearse with my band for my cross canada tour with The Midway State. We're rehearsing at Slaughter house studio's. I've never been and I'm guessing it's not Vegan friendly?
Our first show is on November 24th at SAIT. I've never played there before but I always have a great time in Calgary. Some of my favourite personal performances have been in Calgary. I had the opportunity to open for Heart at the Jubilee Theatre four years ago. It was a big turning point in my career. Last year I opened for the Beach Boys at the Jubilee. I can't forget opening for Chilliwack at the Deer foot Casino. Actually, I kind of forget how the night ended due to the cases of beer I may or may not have stole from their dressing room. Just ask Gerry Adolf.
I attended my first Juno Awards show here in Calgary. One of the high lights was getting up on stage with Shaun Verrault from Wide Mouth Mason and Jamming at an after partie.
I'm looking forward to making another memorable Calgary night on Thursday. It's my first tour playing songs off of my new album "Cosmonaut and The Girl". Can't Wait!
That's all for now,
Shawn
